YAP CO-AUTHORS REPORT ON WORK OPPORTUNITIES FOR JUSTICE-INVOLVED YOUTH

The National Youth Employment Coalition in collaboration with YAP's Policy and Advocacy Center recently published the report "New Funds for Work: Connecting Systems for Justice-Involved Young People." The report stems from a convening of juvenile justice and workforce administrators from around the country, and includes their recommendations for how to cultivate cross-system collaboration to better serve justice-involved youth, including through new WIOA dollars. "The Rain Man Effect" is a documentary that explores how the film of the same name created an unrealistic and inaccurate understanding of Autism that has led to stigmas, generalizations, and stereotypes that negatively impact people with Autism in many ways, perhaps most significantly in the realm of employment.

The movie was fiction, but the effects are real…the time to advocate is now.
