Changes Coming to In Basket!

This upgrade will bring significant improvements to your In Basket. This major design effort is the result of more than five years of research by Epic, including input from more than 100 organizations.

Enhancements include:

Redesigned Home Screen with overview of folders, messages, and pools.
Improved Toolbars with consistent and intuitive functionality.
Save to Chart for replies/forwards.
Easier QuickActions.

These changes will make the management of In Basket more intuitive and efficient for both clinicians and front desk users and will set the stage for the recommendations from the Mass General Brigham In Basket Optimization Workgroup that are designed to reduce the overall In Basket message burden.

Important Note: Potential Issue Impacting “Copy Forward” Flowsheet Functionality

We have been made aware that, with the upgrade, there may be some inconsistencies with the Copy forward flowsheet functionality. Epic has identified a fix for this inconsistency and MGB Digital Health will be implementing the fix on 11/20. In the meantime, if Copy Forward is used, please be vigilant in ensuring that all data you intended to copy forward actually did copy forward.

This inconsistency occurs when the copy forward tool is used when right clicking on the group header and using the Copy Column to Last Column or Copy Column to Another column options are chosen. The system will only copy forward the rows that are visible on the screen, not the entire column. This can result in some flowsheet rows within the group not being copied forward if the rows are out of view on the screen.

Recommended workflow is to not use copy forward by clicking on group header or column header but copy forward individual rows and make sure to confirm that rows copied correctly.

PROVIDERS

Follow Another Provider's Preference Lists

To help speed up your ordering workflows, you can now follow your colleagues to see and place orders that they have on their Preference Lists, Order Sets, SmartSets and Pathways they've added to their favorites.

You'll see filter buttons and new sections in the Browse tab and a new icon inline with search results that will help you find these orders faster.

NURSING STAFF

Wound LDA Cascading Assessment and Intervention Rows (IP)

Wound LDA flowsheet and assessment rows have been reduced by half with the addition of a cascade option to document Additional Assessments and Additional Interventions.

This will condense the view of the flowsheet and eliminate many unnecessary flowsheet rows.

Update to Goals for Rehab Services (AMB)

Within the Episode of Care, a new hyperlink button for Goals has been added.

For patients with a new Episode of Care, use the Goals link to enter goals in the newly condensed window.
For patients with an existing/open Episode of Care, continue to use the Phs Amb Pt hyperlink to enter goals in the current format.
