"Spruce Up Day" at UUC

Saturday, November 7th

9:00-12:00

Have you noticed this beauty next to the front door? It is a native plant called the “Beautyberry” (Callicarpa Americana). It can be used to make jelly or jam and the leaves crushed for a mosquito repellent.

Our next Spruce Up Day is November 7, and there’s always something to be done! Some projects, like improving the pond and compost area, will take a bit of muscle and a sturdy pair of gloves. Others may be as simple as washing windows, planting containers, or adding a little color and life to our surroundings.

Whatever your interests, abilities, or energy level, there’s a way to help!

Bring your ideas, your gardening spirit, and your vision for sprucing up our shared spaces. Together, we can make our Memorial Garden and grounds even more beautiful and welcoming for everyone.

Please email Chris Mueller if you have questions.

Support Immigrant Justice

The elections are over and our work for justice continues. The next meeting of the Pinellas Coalition for Human Rights and to End 287g Agreements is on Saturday, November 7 at 2 pm in the social hall at UUC. We will discuss the next steps to continue to pressure local cities to end their agreements with ICE and to support our immigrant neighbors who are under attack. We welcome newcomers to the fight! Join us!

November SJC Outreach Recipient:

UUSC Guest at Your Table

This November, the Social Justice Committee invites you to support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) through its annual Guest at Your Table (GAYT) program.

This year's theme is "Next Door, Across Borders, and Worldwide!" Justice movements are born from and sustained by community connections. At a time when human rights and international aid efforts face increasing challenges, we are called to show up for all our neighbors, both locally and globally. UUSC's partner organizations demonstrate what it means to be good neighbors in action, showing how compassion, solidarity, and community care transcend borders.

Watch these short videos highlighting the work of each organization:

Through Guest at Your Table, we can help support courageous grassroots organizations working for human rights, migrant justice, and community empowerment around the world. Please join us in learning about and supporting these inspiring partners throughout November.

To our generous UUCers:

Please donate via Breeze and donations baskets only during a recipient's designated month, and thereafter directly to the recipient via either its website or check to its physical address.

Be sure to check out the Social Justice page on UUC's website at https://www.uuc.org/socialjustice and the UUC SJ Immediate Response Team page on Facebook
