Brighter Days and Extended Studio Hours

As the days grow lighter and brighter, we are pleased to announce the return of in-studio evening classes starting on April 1st.

We embrace nature's cue and the Spring Equinox, when the earth's two hemispheres unite with equal parts of dark and light; day and night. This creates a true moment of balance, welcoming spring. We are encouraged to take advantage of this season's energy and embrace this moment to find our own balance.

We hear and talk a lot about this search for balance, but balance isn't something we achieve and are then finished. It's a constant play of give and take, a continual shift and dance, and it's all a part of life. True balance has to come from within. How we deal with the moments we fall out of balance and make our way back, trying again and again, through our asana and through our life; that is the practice of yoga.

With hints that spring is just around the corner, we are so happy to start extending our studio hours and in-studio class offerings. We are also committed to maintaining a virtual class offering for at least the duration of 2021 so you can balance your personal practice in your life how it serves you best.

We look forward to exploring and shifting into this new season together with you, nurturing our inner light while honouring this play of balance.

Beyond Covid Safety - In-person classes continue with move into Red Zone
With the provincial announcement that Ottawa is moving into Red - Control zone, please note that in-studio classes remain unaffected by these measures. We would like to reassure you that at Beyond, we are making the protection and health of our community, teachers and employees our top priority. We have, and will continue to follow all protocol and guidelines set out by our government and local health authority.

In-studio class space continues to be limited to 10. Ensure you pre-register up to 7 days in advance and please familiarize yourself with our cancellation and waitlist policies as well as all of our covid protocol.

Extending studio hours into evenings!
Beginning April 1st, we welcome back some familiar faces to the studio to expand our evening class offerings with new hybrid, in-studio and virtual options. Beyond instructors Su Li Ng, Melanie Brown, Brian Moore, and Julia Rose are thrilled to return in-studio to deliver the classes you have grown to love along with some new options to keep your practice fresh.

New Studio Hours, as of April 1:

Monday: 8:45am to 3pm, 5:30 to 9pm
Tuesday: 8:45am to 3pm, 5:30 to 9pm
Wednesday: 8:45am to 3pm
Thursday: 8:45am to 3pm, 5:30 to 9pm
Friday: 8:45am to 3pm
Saturday & Sunday: 8:45am to 12:30pm

*Please note we will be closed for all in-studio and virtual classes Friday, April 2nd & Sunday, April 4th.

The concept of contentment is found throughout the texts of yoga. It is defined as a state of evenness toward both hardship and ease. The 2000+ year Yoga Sutra sees contentment as a practice (self discipline) that leads to joy.

The Gift of Breath & Gentle Asana, a Virtual Workshop Series
We've all heard that without breath, there is no yoga. Creating a daily practice of breathwork can make you feel so much better. It can bring more focus, calm, non-reactiveness and improve the overall quality of life.

Join Diane to explore the benefits of learning and practicing different breaths and incorporating them with gentle asana (postures).

Gentle Somatic Yoga
We are expanding our working relationship with James Knight, founder of Gentle Somatic Yoga. In addition to our current somatic classes and workshops, this partnership will give the Beyond community access to new workshops and trainings. We will invite James to host events in our Beyond studio but until travel restrictions are lifted, enjoy special virtual access and feature programs just for Beyond!

Our first virtual collaboration is set for Sunday, March 28th, and is an afternoon dedicated to sharing an introduction to this liberating art of movement practice. 

Awaken what’s Possible for you with Gentle Somatic Yoga®. In this practice, you’ll experience restorative sequences, called Somatic Movement Flows®, which are ideal for unwinding stiffness, pain, and postural imbalances, and will dramatically increase flexibility through brain-to-muscle re-education.

Many of our instructors will be in attendance and we would love it if you could join in too!
