CHAMBER UPDATES | DECEMBER 29, 2021
Happy New Year!

Your business likely received a lengthy holiday letter from me in the last couple of weeks. Among the news that I shared was that I had recently returned from a professional development opportunity in Hemet California where I was able to job shadow another Chamber executive in a community that looks like Colerain. They just happen to be 2 ½ times our size and celebrating their 100-year anniversary as a chamber of commerce. I was able to bring back some interesting insights and leave some of our successful chamber ideas in Southern California for them to incorporate as they are able. It was a terrific exchange!

Professional development and education are deep rooted in my business experience. Sharing ideas that come from successful books or leaders across the globe, often makes me the conduit to those wonderful ideas and concepts, not the creator of them. In business today, we are often so busy with the day-to-day work effort, that we forget about working ON our respective businesses. In November we presented our Networking with a Twist program (supported by Dinsmore & ScrogginsGrear) that included an educational component; it was very well received. We will recreate that same format in January & March for our upcoming Third Thursday events using resources from our chamber community and our newly formed Growth Forum. Be sure to check out that information in the newsletter below.

Someone told me long ago that in business, if you are not growing, you're likely shrinking. I have been blessed to hear so many successful stories of businesses that have flourished despite the challenges posed over the last two years. I believe that the reason for that is that we have a resilient community and flexible/nimble leaders who have leaned into rather than away from the changes needed to be successful. Leaders do that.

I am excited to announce that two long-time community business leaders will be introduced to the Colerain Chamber Hall of Fame at our upcoming Awards Dinner on Thursday February 17th at Pebble Creek Golf Club. Along with recognition of the NWLSD students of the year, we will celebrate the best business leaders across Colerain with a new nomination and selection process at the Awards Dinner. We also will have an inspirational message given by an Illinois business leader that I've known for several years named Habeeb Habeeb . I hope that you and your staff can help make this the most successful event and wonderful start to 2022.

Wishing all of you the best as the new year approaches.

Dave

CHAMBER UPDATES
Chamber President, Dave Moravec, Participated in Chamber Swap with Hemet-San Jacinto Chamber

Our very own Dave Moravec travelled to Hemet, California to spend time with their local chamber of commerce leadership in a mentoring opportunity that is uncommon across the chamber of commerce world.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley (east of Los Angeles) is a diverse community with over 500 current chamber members and adjacent to various other suburban chambers of commerce. Their chamber director, Cyndi Lemke, has been in place since 2018 and brings years of leadership experience to her role as executive director. Dave was excited to learn from Cyndi's experience and gain valuable knowledge on the subjects of DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), member engagement, forecasting and vision casting, as well as learning about the various community partnership in place that make HSJC so successful.

Check out the posts on our Facebook page to relive Dave's exciting journey west. For those interested in a more detailed summary, please contact Dave directly and he will send it along. Cyndi hopes to visit Cincinnati to extend the relationship and learn from a diverse group of chamber leaders in Ohio.

Who doesn't like a wonderful happy hour with a twist? In this case, we will be mixing a whole lot of networking with a cocktail or two, stirring in a pinch of education about where sales meets marketing today and adding a dash of attendee participation.

This will prove to be a must attend event for all levels of leadership in your organization. We anticipate about a 20-30 minute program which will prove to be more exciting than that phone call you took (or maybe avoided) from the salesperson wanting you to extend your auto warranty, plus you'll get to rub elbows with the best and brightest across Colerain.

TEAM UP TO GREEN UP
Why Should The Local Business Community Care About The TUTGU Initiative?

With help from fellow Chamber member, Waycross Community Media, Team Up To Green Up has launched a series of videos explaining the program and how it directly effects our local community!

Make sure to head to our Facebook and Instagram pages over the next several weeks for new additions!

As a part of our continued series, here's Colerain Township Administrator, Geoff Milz, giving some insight on the program: What's in it for me? Why should the local business community care about the Team Up To Green Up Initiative?

ADOPT A BLOCK!

Volunteer to preserve beautification and maintain cleanliness on a Colerain Township street or block by picking up litter.

Attractive, maintained neighborhoods are littered less and research shows they are usually safer and more attractive for new businesses and new residents.

We have 60 segments of commercial roads identified in the Adopt-a-Block program and 16 people/organizations have already signed up, some have signed up for multiple sections of roads!

Special thanks to the following for getting this off the ground:

Rumpke Waste & Recycling
Minuteman Press
Wyler Honda
Blust Motors
White Oak Gardens
Compton Recycling
Aurinia-Acer Partners
Total Quality Childcare
Colerain Fire Department
Resident - Stephanie Wright

We have set a goal of $10,000 to be donated by the end of calendar year 2021!
