Bring On a Blast of Color with Bulbs!

Seeing the blooms of spring bulb flowers emerge is a guaranteed way to say good-bye to winter, and fall is the perfect time to consider including bulb flowers in your own great outdoors!

Garden staples like the early blooming crocus poke their heads out of the snow and are soon followed by daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips, bringing months of beautiful colors to any landscape. Thinking about the colors ranging from white and yellow to red and purple will make anyone look forward to spring.

October may be the ideal time to include flowering spring bulb plants at your home or business, but our Team Member, JT, confirms that these hardy bulbs can be planted any time from September through November.

Fans of perennial bulbs love that once they’re incorporated into a bed, they will generally grow year after year without too much care or fuss. JT adds that even though bulb plants are generally low maintenance, there are still factors for Team Anewalt’s to consider for best results.

“Even though bulbs are pretty adaptable, we can evaluate a planting area to see what grows the best. We know how all the different pieces work together. We’re used to planning gardens,” he says.

Even though bulbs are well-known to be an easy addition to any bed, JT stresses the importance of knowing how deeply each type of bulb should be planted and notes that it can be a difficult physical task for some property owners. And while daffodils grow and spread over many years, tulip bulbs weaken with age, JT explains. He advises tulip lovers to dig up older bulbs and replace them after about two years.

While some property owners have beds dedicated to their favorite spring flowering bulbs, JT knows that many landscapes incorporate a creative blend of spring bulb flowers and perennials to provide both color and curb appeal to anyone’s great outdoors.

Bring on your own blast of color with the addition of flowering bulbs to your home or business this year!
