Join us for our next and final Artist Sustainability Workshop Series (ASWS), "The Craft of Grantwriting for Artists." The last in the online workshop series is taking place tomorrow, May 2nd, from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM. Participants will gain tips and insight into writing a successful grant proposal including how to find funders, knowing the building blocks of a proposal, and how to write a strong LOI (letter of intent).

Connected through the broad processes of making, evidence of labor, and the absence of the artist's hand, Process Reimagined – Building it Up to Tear it Down presents a series of artworks across a range of mediums and disciplines. Focusing on the ebb and flow of construction/deconstruction this examination of varied processes elucidates how the conceptual aims of each artist are inherently tied to their personal act of making.

BCA PARTNERS WITH THE HUMAN IMPACT INSTITUTE

Linda Cunningham, South Bronx Waterfront Sagas III

BCA has partnered with the Human Impact Institute as one of the curators for the 2023 Creative Climate Awards, a festival using art to broaden the climate conversation and incite action. This month-long festival includes an exhibit, Inspiring a Climate Renaissance, featuring BCA artists Linda Cunningham, Nicky Enright, and Matthew López-Jensen. Join two of our participating artists and Longwood Art Gallery Director, Lucia Warck-Meister, in conversation on Wednesday, May 10th from 12:00 -1:00 PM at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (1 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017).

MAY 8TH DEADLINE EXTENDED - OPEN CALL FOR VISUAL ARTISTS

BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT (BMP) COVER ART

Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) is seeking a Bronx-based photographer and/or visual artist to design a cover for the Bronx Memoir Project Volume VII, a multi-genre anthology written during the 2022-2023 Bronx Memoir Project workshop series. BMP offers free, professionally-led memoir-writing workshops across the Bronx. BMP helps amplify local voices and document Bronx history through an array of writing tools, along with the professional development needed for writers to publish on their own. The book will be self-published by BCA and distributed through amazon.com.


A stipend of $500 will be provided to the selected artist. Application is open until May 9th at 12:00 AM.
