Dear United Way,

As the holiday season approaches, there are working families in our community facing challenges and uncertainties. Many are diligently striving to make ends meet, yet circumstances can shift in an instant. Let me share a story with you that represents the families in Central Georgia who need our support during this time.

Melanie, a remarkable single mother of two, is currently working, but only getting 20-25 hours a week. She's doing everything she can to provide the best quality of life for her family. However, she faced an unexpected setback when her children's daycare temporarily closed due to code violations in August this year. This circumstance forced her to spend extra money on a babysitter to watch her children while she worked. With rent increases, reduced work hours, and other financial obligations, she's unsure how she'll be able to give her kids the Christmas she hopes for them.

This holiday season, families like Melanie's need our support to ensure that their holiday season is filled with hope and happiness. Your generosity can make all the difference in providing them with a joyful and memorable holiday season.

Here are a few ways you can get involved:

Giving Tuesday for Brookdale: Let's come together as a community on November 28, 2023, for Giving Tuesday, to ensure that every child and family at Brookdale Resource Center experiences the warmth, joy, and hope of the holiday season. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to bring joy to children and families who need it the most at Brookdale Resource Center.
