In between games and family fun all weekend long, here are some activities and treats that kids can enjoy during down time including a healthy snack, an American Flag art project, and an easy DIY marshmallow shooter (a tasty alternative to sparklers or fire crackers).

These mini fruit pizzas can be created with a variety of red and blue/deep purple fruits, crackers and creamy spreads. Follow these directions below or look in the refrigerator for other ways children can put their own creative stamp on their snack!

With either craft sticks or larger paint sticks and red, white, and blue paint, this art project will allow children to create their own American flag! While painting, talk about the meaning of each color: The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.

Before the fireworks begin, have much quieter explosions with marshmallow shooters! Using a few household items such as toilet paper rolls, rubber bands and balloons, marshmallows will be firing away in no time!

Please share with us a photo or story
of how you’re enjoying these activities at home.
We’d love to see what you’re up to!
