Schools are implementing the YouScience platform, which provides students with information that combines their interest areas with their aptitudes and then produces information about local employers that hire in those specific career fields. It is individualized for each student.
The schools are then partnering with local employers to provide various career connected learning experiences including awareness, exploration, planning, training, on site-based activities and internship opportunities. Christine Taylor, SEP Director of Talent Development, points out that “the data supporting both YouScience and career connected learning indicates that these programs break down traditional social and socio-economic barriers, while providing exceptional real-world
learning experiences that lead children toward their future and personally rewarding careers.”
