Day 24: Angels of The Grotto
This kneeling angel can be found in the Upper Gardens near St. Francis of Assisi.
Angels of The Grotto

We hope you enjoy this tour of angels found throughout the chapels and gardens at The Grotto.

May you, too, experience the peace our visitors and pilgrims encounter in the spiritual and natural beauty of our holy sanctuary.
This angel reveals to Joseph the mystery of the incarnation. It can be found in St. Joseph's Grove.
The Holy Angels

The Angels in heaven constantly behold the face of God. They were created for adoration. They live for the magnification of God's glory.

Their entire being and all their activities are immersed in the holiness of God. They are eternally one with God.

Even while they are watching over the entire creation, even while they are assisting us in our trials and battles against the forces of darkness, they never divert their faces from the face of God. Indeed, this loving, adoring union with God is the source, not only of all their beatitude, but also of their love for us, and of all the grace, light and help which they communicate to us.
This angel can be found in The Grotto, providing light for the Piet à .
Models for Humanity

We can learn adoration from the holy Angels, for we too were created for the adoration and glorification of God. We have a harder time of it, because we cannot see God, because we can adore only in the limitation of human faith. The Angels, therefore, help us and teach us to pray with them.

The Angels can properly fulfill all their duties because they do not turn their countenances away from God, because they remain immersed in perpetual adoration. For our own prayer we can learn these things from the example of the Angel: to pray always, to never withdraw our faces from God, and to live constantly in God’s presence.
These cherubs are found beneath the Assumption of Mary Statue, located in the middle of the Rose Garden.
Prayer to the Holy Angels

Bless the Lord, All you His Angels,
You who are Mighty in strength And do His Will.
Intercede for me At the throne of God,
And by your unceasing watchfulness
Protect me in every danger Of soul and body.
Bless the Lord, All you His Angels,
You who are Mighty in strength And do His Will.
Intercede for me At the throne of God,
And by your unceasing watchfulness
Protect me in every danger Of soul and body.
Obtain for me The grace of final perseverance,
So that after this life I may be admitted
To your glorious company
And may sing with you The praises of God For all eternity.
O all you holy Angels And Archangels,
Thrones and Dominations, Principalities and Powers
And Virtues of heaven, Cherubim and Seraphim
And especially you, My dear Guardian Angel,
Intercede for me And obtain for me The favor I now ask
(State your intention here...)
These angels welcome visitors on the path between St. Anne's Chapel and the Via Matris.
Prayer to My Guardian Angel

O blessed angelic Spirit,
Dear and attentive guide in this life,
I thank you from my heart for all the love and confidence
with which you have treated me till now.
Be patient with my inconsistency,
for I often do not follow your holy counsels,
and by my disobedience
have caused you great and bitter sorrow.
Drive away from me by the power of the Jesus’ Cross
every temptation of the Evil One,
and in whatever trouble or difficulty you see me,
may I feel the help of almighty God to be present
by your particular prayer and protection.
Today I commend to you forever
my body, my heart, and my soul,
my memory, my intellect and my will,
my passions and my feelings,
that you would guard me, direct me, and rule me,
and at the same time purify, illuminate, and perfect me,
so that filled with every good through you,
I may persevere in grace until, in your company,
I will come to see my God face to face
and live in the blessedness of his glory forever.

Amen.

A Guardian Angel Morning Prayer

Angel of God,
my Guardian dear,
To whom God's love
entrusts me here;

Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light and guard,
to rule and guide.

Amen.
This tiny angel can be found among the flowers at the Our Lady of Lavang Shrine in the Upper Gardens.
A Guardian Angel Before Sleep Prayer

Guardian Angel,
guard me from harm.
Protect me in sleep
without cause for alarm.

Keep safe through,
the darkness of light,
And wake me gently
with God's morning light.

Amen.
