BROAD COVERAGE OF FIRST LIBERTY'S
BIBLE VERSE DOG TAGS LAWSUIT AGAINST
DEPT. OF DEFENSE – A LAWSUIT RESULTING
FROM A MAJOR 2019 MRFF VICTORY

In 2019, MRFF successfully got the Department of Defense (DoD)
to follow its own regulations and disallow Christian jewelry
company Shields of Strength from using official trademarked
DoD military branch emblems on its Bible verse dog tags.

DoD regulations strictly prohibit the use of official trademarked
DoD emblems on items that promote "ideological movements, sociopolitical change, religious beliefs (including non-belief), specific interpretations of morality, or legislative/statutory change."

Now fundamentalist Christian legal organization First Liberty Institute, which is representing Shields of Strength, is claiming that the DoD’s regulations are unconstitutional and suing the DoD!

The article quotes the DoD regulation that prohibits this use by Shields of Strength.

Pat Robertson's CBN News covers Shields of Strength’s federal lawsuit against the Department of Defense (DoD) — a lawsuit resulting from a major 2019 victory for MRFF in getting the DoD to follow its own regulations and disallow Christian jewelry company Shields of Strength from using official trademarked DoD emblems on its Bible verse dog tags. Shields of Strength, represented by the fundamentalist Christian legal organization First Liberty Institute, calls the DoD’s regulations prohibiting the use of official trademarked DoD emblems on products that promote religion or political views “unfair Trademark practices by the federal government.”

Former Fox News personality Todd Starnes covers Shields of Strength’s federal lawsuit that claims the DoD’s regulation prohibiting the use of its official trademarked emblems on items that promote religion or political views are unconstitutional. Starnes uses the subterfuge of spending more than half of his article on sentimental feelings about these Bible verse dog tags rather than the actual issue with them.

Religious dog tag-maker sues
Defense Department to reinstate license

The Washington Examiner dishonestly omits that the issue is Shields of Strength’s use of official trademarked DoD emblems on its products, and that these are the only products the DoD has prohibited Shields of Strength from selling. They are still free to make all of their other military-themed religious products that do not have an official DoD emblem on them.

The Daily Caller claims to have reached out to MRFF for a comment, which is also a lie.

(Excerpts from Friendly Atheist)

“Back in 2019, an online Christian jewelry was forced to stop selling dog tags with emblems of the Marine Corps and Navy after those military branches demanded they cease the unauthorized usage. Now that store, Shields of Strength, is attempting to get its revenge.”

[…]

“The lawsuit itself reads like a joke because there’s a lot of space spent describing the good working relationship the two sides had, and how much individual soldiers appreciated the dog tags, and how they weren’t punished earlier for what they did.

None of that is relevant. The Department of Defense has a set policy that prohibits its logos from being licensed ‘for any purpose intended to promote ideological movements, sociopolitical change, religious beliefs (including non-belief), specific interpretations of morality, or legislative/statutory change.” That’s not discriminatory! It’s not like a company run by an atheist can selling similar dog tags with military logos and a non-theistic quotation on the back. ‘

The Siege on Christmas:
A Time-Honored Kosher Tradition

From The Occidental Observer's MISSION STATEMENT:

“The Occidental Observer will present original content touching on the themes of white identity, white interests, and the culture of the West. Such a mission statement is sure to be dismissed as extremism of the worst sort in today’s intellectual climate—perhaps even as a sign of psychiatric disorder. Yet there is a compelling need for such a site. A great many other identifiable groups in the multicultural West have a strong sense of identity and interest, but overt expressions of white identity and white interests (or European-American identity and interests) are rarely found among the peoples who founded these societies and who continue to make up the majority.”

“Wreaths Across America”

Dear MRFF, With regard to the Wreaths Across America. I suppose the next thing they will say is that, “The wreaths aren’t a Christian symbol.” So it’s a pagan thing, has nothing to do with Christ. That’s fine with me — make them say it, or maybe they can just knock it off. We all know it’s more of the same Christian dominionism theology, and all they do is lie, like their whole BS religion, nothing but a bunch of lies. When I was a child Christmas used to be fun, then I learned I was going to hell, then I told them to go to hell, and felt better for it. Now they say, Merry Christmas like it’s some sort of threat and you’d better respond in a like manner or else. Else what? When will people learn, 10, 100, 1000 years from now? Thanks for not quitting. This skirmish is really a delaying action, but at least you stuck a finger in their eye, and perhaps someone will start thinking. There has to be a cost, and you are giving it to them.
