The Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC), on behalf of the eight counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fayette, Fulton, Huntingdon, Somerset, and Westmoreland, is coordinating a Broadband Feasibility Study to assess your current broadband service and needs.

The results will help the region determine where the need is greatest and help guide us on how to ensure that all citizens and businesses have affordable and adequate access to broadband services.

Your participation in this survey is extremely important, as it will help support grant applications that can fund improved broadband.

U.S. Chamber Strongly Supports Coronavirus Czar, Data-Based Guidance to Protect Public Health and Limit Economic Impact

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce CEO Thomas J. Donohue today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. government's response to the Coronavirus.

"The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the appointment of a czar to coordinate a holistic government response to protect Americans from the Coronavirus. At this critical time, we need clear accountability and data-based guidance so the public and American businesses can take the proper precautions to mitigate the impact. We encourage Congress and the administration to provide all necessary support to contain the spread of the virus."

"The American business community plays a vital role in combating outbreaks of viruses like Coronavirus. The Chamber is working closely with U.S. and foreign government officials, large and small businesses, and our entire federation of state, local, and international Chambers to ensure access to the most up-to-date and relevant information so that we are all adequately prepared to protect Americans at home and abroad. The more prepared we are as a business community and society, the better we will manage the impacts of the virus."

Spring Jam Auction Items and Sponsors Needed

The 2020 Spring Jam will be on April 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Huntingdon Country Club. This 70's/80's themed event features a Taste of Huntingdon County, non-profit displays, and music. Lauren and Joe with former members of the band Flight 19 will be entertaining us once again. Non-profits will be selling $1 raffle tickets for a Fitbit Versa 2 and a Chromebook. They keep all the money raised from the raffle ticket sales.

At this event we also have a silent auction and are looking for items to have in that auction. Items can be stand-alone or ones that can be combined with others in a basket. Bonney Forge Corporation has once again provided Penn State Football tickets. Bertha and Jim Peffer have provided five nights in beautiful Lincoln New Hampshire from August 26 to August 31. Please contact Yvonne at [email protected] or MacKenzie at [email protected] if you would like to provide something.

We are still in need of sponsors. Click here for the sponsorship form.
