May 19 is Pentecost Sunday (and a great day to wear red to church). "On the Day of Pentecost we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in a mighty rush of wind and flame to inspire the church’s proclamation of Christ’s rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world. (See Acts 2:1-13; see also Joel 2:28-32.)" Source: Presbyterian Church U.S.A., Presbyterian Mission

Announcements and News

This Sunday, May 19, is the date for the BPC Blood Drive. It will be held from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Please consider giving to help save lives. Invite your friends! Our goal is to provide at least 10 donations. (Please see additional information in the flyer at the end of this newsletter.)

Fellowship Luncheon on Sunday, May 19 will include a brief memorial for the five women of BPC who passed away this past year. It will also include, as well, the PW Life Membership announcement, officer installation, in connection with the PW Birthday celebration. As usual, the monthly luncheon will take place in the Fellowship Hall immediately following Worship Service. Individuals bring one dish. Groups of two or more bring two dishes -- a meat dish and one other vegetable or salad but no desserts this month. There will be a PW birthday cake for dessert. Soft drinks, water, and rolls are provided. Visitors are welcome.

See the pew racks for envelopes for the annual Pentecost offering, which is being collected through May 19. "The Pentecost Offering is a special offering of the Presbyterian Church (USA )....The offering is unique in that 40% of the total amount received is retained by individual congregations for local ministries in their communities, while the remaining 60% is used to support national and global ministries." Broadmoor Presbyterian Church is called by God to Love, Serve, Worship, and Grow as a community of faith in Jesus Christ.

Our Vision Statement

God challenges us:

-To love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves;

-To serve the Lord with gladness and to share God's blessings with the world, especially those who suffer from need or abuse;

-To worship the Lord by lifting our hearts in praise, making a joyful noise to our rock and our redeemer and gathering around the "watchposts" of the Reformed tradition: the font, the table, and the pulpit;

-And to grow in faith through the study of God's word and the use of our gifts and talents as disciples of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
