New Member Sunday
The next New Member Sunday is scheduled for April 28. Please contact Pastor Laura if you would like to know more.
Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. This service will focus on the last few hours of Jesus’ time with his disciples as they shared the Seder Meal together. The Chancel Choir will provide special music and we will share in the Service of Holy Communion in remembrance of that night, and an opportunity to wash each other’s feet as Jesus modeled that night
Friday, April 19th at 7:00 p.m. This service will focus on the final hours in the life of Jesus Christ on earth in human form leading to his crucifixion. Our contemporary ensemble will provide music with special guest saxophonist, Terry Schmidt. The service will end with the ceremonial stripping of the altar and appointments, symbolically representing the falling away of all those closest to Jesus, and our final candle will be unlit.
Friday, April 19th after the Good Friday Service (approximately 8:15 p.m.). The Broadway Hikers sponsor this annual opportunity to experience how God is still able to speak to us in darkness. We’ll head out to Cades Cove and walk part of the loop (paved road). Please make a reservation through the church office so that we can plan for transportation and any weather adjustments.
New for 2019! This year’s sunrise service is taking place on “The Missing Link,” the newly-opened section of the Foothills Parkway. The church bus will leave from the church at 6:15 a.m. or you can meet up at our gathering place, which is the parking lot between Mile Marker 20 and 21. Bring a lawn chair.
Easter Celebration
Sunday, April 21st at 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Christ is risen! Share the joy! Our Sanctuary will be filled with the splendor of Easter Lilies in full bloom, and glorious music. At 10:30 our Chancel Choir will be accompanied by professional brass ensemble, handbells, as well as our pipe organ and regular musicians. He is risen indeed!
Day In, Day Out Kick Off, Tuesday, May 14th at Noon with Wendel at the Piano!
Make your plans now to attend the kick off luncheon for the new Day In, Day Out program that will be on the 2nd Tuesdays of each month through November. May is a “Day In” and will be a pot luck/covered dish lunch at noon in the Fellowship Hall. Drinks will be furnished. After lunch a musical program will be presented by our own Wendel Warner. Wendel always delivers great entertainment! We will also present the calendar of events that have been scheduled for the remaining months through November. These programs are open to all adults, so come and bring a friend. Call or email the church office if transportation is needed.
Reservations may be made by the sign up sheets in the pew pads or by calling or emailing the church office, and are due by noon on Monday, May 13th.
Sunday Morning Small Groups
One of the focuses of the Nurture Committee is to increase the attendance of our Sunday School Classes. We feel that a focus on small groups will be more inviting to members and visitors. Soon there will be information sheets describing the Sunday Morning Small Groups that are available for children, youth and adults as well as a brochure listing all our Small Group options. Please look for this information around the church as well as on our website to find ways you can connect more at Broadway. Relationships are built in small groups!
We are looking for volunteers to help with hosting (handing out water) and helping with children's crafts. Email or call the church office if you can help!

April 28th is "Ask Me" Sunday.

On Sunday, April 28th, we are asking volunteers to were a name tag with the different small groups offered at Broadway to help people connect faces with our different programs.

Contact the church office if you are willing to represent your small group on the 28th at the 10:30 service.
Help Welcome Estonian Guests April 28.
The Outreach team invites Sunday School classes and all interested church members to a light breakfast discussion on April 28 during the 9:30-10:15 Sunday School hour in the Fellowship Hall. We will welcome Hindrek Taavet Taimla and his wife Veronika from Estonia. Taavet is on faculty at the Baltic Methodist Theological Seminary and Veronika is active in children’s ministries. Several years ago, members of our congregation visited Estonia, and Estonian youth also visited Broadway, so our guests are known to many Broadway members. Taavet will speak at both services on April 28, and the 9:30 hour gathering will be an opportunity to hear remarks and interact with both of our guests more informally. Come and get acquainted/reacquainted and learn more about the Estonian church!
If you are a caregiver or would like to learn how to become a caregiver for someone with dementia, join us for a lunch and learn opportunity on May 6 from noon until 1:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Bring your lunch and be ready to discuss "Dementia and It's Effect on Communication Skills". There will be a brief presentation by Speech Language Pathologist Becky Martin followed by plenty of time for questions and answers. For those who would like to participate, a communication test for dementia will be provided!
