“Ribs for Russ”
Benefit dinner for Russ and Natasha Collins. Russ is a local paramedic and was hit by a car back in the beginning of June, riding his bicycle home from work. He is still out of work and is expected to be for another couple of months as he broke/crushed ribs and broke his clavicle. It’s a true miracle that he wasn’t killed.

Sunday, August 4, 5pm-7pm at Broadway UMC Fellowship Hall

Tickets $10, includes: BBQ chicken, brisket, ribs, green beans, baked beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw, rolls, drink, and dessert

There will also be a silent auction to include signed UT paraphernalia, gift baskets from local businesses, and more!

If you would like to attend and prepay** for a ticket, please email or call Aryn Faughnan: [email protected] // 720.519.8827

**We would like to presell as many tickets as possible so we know how much food we need to prepare.

We had a wonderful time last Friday tonight as we celebrated Back to School Bash for Friday Night Lights

I talked with one mother who enjoyed making an owl herself. She shared that since she worked 7 days a week, she rarely ever got to do anything for herself. She was going to take it to work and put it on her desk. We never know how far reaching the seeds we sow will go.

Thanks to all our volunteers for without you none of this would be possible. We were glad to have Bob Hayes join us tonight after he hiked 8 miles! Please mark your calendars for our next event on August 30th; the theme is Back The Blue.

Blessings,
Susan

Join us on our next Broadway Hike! On August 17th we will hike the Little River/Cucumber Gap loop with a possible extension to the Avent cabin. The hike is about 5.5 miles. We will leave the church parking lot at 9:30 to carpool to the trail head. Remember to bring plenty of water because it will still be very hot (at least a couple of water bottles) and a lunch. The day allowing, we will eat out sack lunches at the Avent cabin. All are welcome!

Please email the church [email protected] if you intend to go.

Aug. 18: Bicentennial Church and College Community Worship
A Faith Community Fair will be held at 6 p.m., which will give MC students the opportunity to meet members of local churches and faith communities. All are welcome to attend the community worship service, led by Rev. Dr. Anne McKee, at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Center. In addition to welcoming first-year students, this year’s worship service will celebrate our area’s faith communities and our history of shared mission and service. And shared music will be a highlight! If a quartet or several members of your church choir would like to participate in a community choir for the service, please contact Alan Eleazer.

Anyone who would like to contribute breakfast and protein bars or homemade cookies to be handed out to students during the Fair please leave them in the church kitchen by 4:30 pm on August 18. Cookies should be bagged in ziplock baggies, 3 per bag and marked as to what type they are and if the contain nuts. If you have questions please contact Susan Daffron.
Mark your calendars for the next Friday Night Lights downtown event on Friday, August 30th from 5:30–8:30 p.m. The theme is “Back the Blue”. Volunteers are needed to assist with hospitality and to help with the children’s crafts.
