THIS SUNDAY IS PENTECOST
We celebrate the birth of the Church and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
It is customary to wear red on Pentecost Sunday.
Way to Go Broadway!!!

Our goal was 40 buckets. We filled 47!
These buckets will join others on a truck Wednesday and Thursday at Fairview UMC. From there the trucks travel to Lake Junaluska to be blessed at Annual Conference.

Holston Annual Conference
Several from Broadway will be attending this annual gathering of United Methodists from our region at Lake Junaluska Assembly in North Carolina from June 9 - 12. The mission focus this year is what the church can do to face the opioid crisis. It is projected that as many as 650,000 people will die from opioid addiction over the next decade. We will also be gathering the food and other mission buckets that we have been collecting and sending them off to Zimbabwe and Liberia. As part of the Annual Conference, we will also be electing delegates to the next General and Jurisdictional Conference In 2020.
Those attending from Broadway include: Laura Rasor, Jennifer McIntyre, Mary Morehead, Angie Kizer, Lindsey Kizer, Ron and Pat Matthews, Archer and Mary Coppedge, and Bob and Judy Hayes.
We have the opportunity to help local school children who experience food insecurity over the summer. Sadly, the need is great in our area. Once school ends, some children face hunger when the free or reduced price lunch programs also end. Second Harvest and First UMC are partnering to furnish food items to selected families this summer. Broadway is supporting this initiative by providing volunteers to help deliver the food to 10 families (representing 26 children) from the Porter School community.
