Broadway Briefs June 6

Broadway UMC seeks Youth Director (part-time) to provide vision and leadership for established program comprised of grades 6 through 12. Candidate must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and spiritual with willingness to grow the program. Candidate must be able to work with parents and volunteers while providing leadership organizing Sunday morning and evening activities, Bible studies, fun activities, mission trips, spiritual retreats, etc. Hours are flexible but include Sunday (a.m. and p.m.). United Methodist background preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree in Child/Youth Development, Ministry or Counseling with experience leading a successful Youth Program is preferred but will consider 5 years experience leading a successful Youth Program. Youth Task Force

We have a Youth Task Force that is working diligently in support of the transition to a new youth director. Youth Task Force members include: Brad McBride, Kelly Zunich, Janay Griffin, Jennifer Barnett, Anita Ward, Marie Pafford, Lindsey Kizer and Noah McIntyre. Please be in prayer for the task force and for our youth during this important time.

Brown Food Pantry is in need of toiletries for our clients. Specifically, we need:

Toothpaste (not tooth brushes - we have plenty)

Holston Annual Conference

Please be in prayer for The Holston Annual Conference, which will be held beginning Sunday, June 10 through Wednesday, June 13 at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. Representatives from all of the United Methodist Churches in our area will be gathering together for business and worship. The theme of this year’s Annual Conference is “Jesus is Good!” Sessions and worship are open to everyone (held in Stuart Auditorium at Lake Junaluska). Can’t make it to “the Lake?” No problem! Rejuvenation Station Anniversary Celebration

This Sunday, June 10, we will be celebrating the 20 ^th Anniversary of the Rejuvenation Station Contemporary Worship service. A time of recognition will be offered in each of the three services (8:30, 10:00 and 11:15). It seems fitting that the anniversary comes at a time when we are launching new opportunities for worship.

Farewell Reception for Jim Gass and Family

There will be a Reception for Jim and Megan and Erin on Sunday, June 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This will be during the Summer Worship Schedule Coffee/Fellowship Time so feel free to stop by at your convenience during that time.

CHILDREN’S DEPARTMENT PAINTING PROJECT

The Children’s Ministry team has been working hard to spruce up the rooms on the Children’s Floor to give it an updated feel. One of the ways we are doing this is by painting the rooms. So far, we have painted two rooms, the Baby nursery and the Toddler room. They look AWESOME! You ought to take a peek the next time you are at the church.

A third is being prepared to be painted and PDO will paint a fourth which leaves us with two rooms. To finish up our Painting Project we are asking other groups to consider taking a room. Paint supplies will be provided. We are just looking for workers. We have found that about 3-5 people make a good team and the rooms need about two coats. Time frame to paint is either when PDO is closed the first two weeks of July or to paint a Thursday evening and finishing up by Saturday afternoon to allow the rooms sufficient time to air out before Monday morning.

SUMMER ON BROADWAY BBQ BASH

This years Summer on Broadway BBQ Bash is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 22rd and 23th. Please consider offering your time to this event! You may contact the church office or Lisa Hendrickson at [email protected] f or more information .

Art camp is 3 days of painting and so much more led by Lisa and Emma Hendrickson. Kids 5 to 12 years of age are welcome.

Worship Slide Assistance

Volunteers are needed to run the worship slides for the 10:00 a.m. service. Jim Gass has been doing this so we are needing a new set of volunteers in order to be able continue to offer the slides. No special skills are needed (you basically press a button) and training is provided. Please contact Pastor Laura or the church office for more information.
