March 15 — The Influence of Culture on How We Read the Bible : This week’s study will focus on the influence of culture on how United Methodists read and interpret scripture — both today’s culture and the cultural concerns in scripture.
Contemplative Prayer Practice During Lent
Beginning on Wednesday, March 4, David Reeves will be facilitating a time of Contemplative Prayer. Contemplative prayer is an ancient form of Christian silent communion with God. Its motto could be: “Be still and know that I am God.” Sitting together in silence, it becomes obvious that the only thing separating us from God and others is the belief that we are separate. David Reeves has had a contemplative practice since the 1970’s. The Practice will be taking place on Wednesdays at noon from March 4 through April 8 in the Chapel. For more information, contact the church office.
Broadway Book Club will meet Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 at Debbie Henry's house. Her address is 3007 Yearling Ln., Maryville, TN 37803. She will be reviewing the book
"The Great Blue Hills of God" by Kreis Beall. Questions? Contact Debbie Taylor.
Day In/Day Out meets on the 2nd Tuesdays of March - Nov.  “Day In” is a noon potluck lunch with program in the Fellowship Hall.  “Day Out” is a bus excursion to a nearby attraction.

* Please note that you must sign-up and pay for the "Driving Miss Daisy" by March 16th. For more information click below...
Sunday April 8, Youth went Snow Tubing!
Day In event with Sam Venable
The Habitat Team at Broadway United Methodist is now planning our first project this year. We will remove existing front and deck and build new ones with stair access and railings for property at 110 Big Dee Lane in Maryville. Beginning March 19 until March 21, we need at least 8-10 able-bodied, enthusiastic volunteers in addition to our team who is already in place . We meet at 8:30a.m. and work until 3:00 p.m. This year, we hope that some of our youth will work alongside of us. We have been blessed with a great team, great volunteers, and great fellowship as we work!
Here is an opportunity to continue the conversation at Broadway surrounding the topic of mental health and mental illness: a four-week Sunday School class and discussion, led by Melanie Hutsell, will be in the Fellowship Hall from 9:45 to 10:20 beginning April 5. The study will be based on the book Troubled Minds: Mental Illness and the Church's Mission b y Amy Simpson. Reading the book is not a requirement for attending the class -- all are welcome to come -- but copies of the book can be ordered through the church office if there is interest.
