Calling All Super Heroes
Since 1986, the Pregnancy Resource Center of Blount County, Tennessee has helped women cope with unplanned pregnancies and consider their options in a compassionate and supportive environment. On May 5, 2018, the Pregnancy Resource Center will hold their annual Superhero Life Walk and 5k at Sandy Springs Park. They would love to have members of Broadway join them as they raise funds to impact the lives of women and men that are facing unplanned pregnancies. Register online at Run4PRC.com . Last spring we supported the Pregnancy Resource Center by filling baby bottles with change. This year we can support again by walking and/or running.
Graduate Recognition Sunday
This Sunday, May 6, we will have a time of recognition and sharing from our graduates (high school, college and graduate school). So far our list includes: Jessica McCausland, Kyle Wright, Madeline Wimmer, Connor Brown, Ellie Johnson, Caroline Moss and Jenny Kate McBride, Benton N. Taylor. Please contact the church office today if you know of additional members.
Please Support “Go Gray Sunday” May 6
Our church has the opportunity to join other Holston Conference churches in supporting the second annual “Go Gray Sunday,” an initiative to raise awareness and funding for pediatric brain tumor research. Brain tumors are now the number one disease killer of children in the United States. Each day, nine children are diagnosed with a brain tumor. Of those diagnosed, only 66% will survive for five years. “Go Gray Sunday” was begun by a Knoxville (Holston Conference Ministerial) family after their 3-year-old daughter, Tillery Phillips, was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
To show your support of this serious issue and to help eradicate pediatric brain tumors, please:
● Wear GRAY on Sunday May 6th
● Read more about Knoxville’s Tillery Phillips and her ongoing brain tumor challenges at GoGraySunday.com.
● Visit https://www.alexslemonade.org/ to read the impressive efforts toward eradicating all types of pediatric cancer by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. “Go Gray Sunday” works with this organization which specifically includes pediatric brain cancer.
● Prayerfully consider making a donation by May 6
● Online at either web site above
● By sending a check to: TIL Foundation, P.O. Box 12052, Knoxville, TN 37912
Please make your donation before May 6, 2018 to show support for the many affected children and their families. Broadway can make a difference!

Vacation Bible School Help Wanted!!
Our June 4-7 Vacation Bible School will be here before we know it! I am excited at all the help I already have lined up. David and Laura will be doing our Bible Stories, Megan will be leading games, Patsy is doing the science activity, and Lisa and Gerri will be doing crafts. Kim Hill is organizing our snack suppers again this year. Even though the “bones” of our VBS are in place we still could use some assistants for our activities, people to help shepherd kids around, and help with meals. We will begin setting up the fellowship hall Saturday June 2 nd beginning at 10:00. Most of the work will be moving tables and chairs but there will be some decoration to do as well. All are welcome to come help if you are interested and have that day free. If you would like to help with the meals/kitchen send an email to khill1957@gmail.com. If you are interested in helping out in other areas or with Saturday’s set up please send an email to Jennifer_mcintyre@hotmail.com.
Summer Worship Schedule starts June 3

8:30 a.m. - Prayer and Praise Service
 (30 minutes; volunteer musicians)
9:00 a.m. - Sunday School
10:00 a.m. - Traditional Service
11:15 a.m. - Non-Traditional Service (with current Praise Band)
9:00 – 11:15 a.m. - Coffee Hour/Fellowship (Fellowship Hall)

Volunteer Needs for Summer Worship Schedule

● Shepherds for Each of the 3 Services – These are folks who will commit to attend one of the services consistently and help provide feedback and welcome. Will serve as a focus group to share feedback with Let’s Grow Worship Team. So we’ll need a small group for each of the services: 8:30, 10:00 and 11:15.
● Floaters – These are folks who are willing to use this opportunity to try out and experience the different times and styles, again with the hope of providing feedback and welcome. These volunteers will also serve as a focus group to share feedback with Let’s Grow Worship Team. This can be a good position to serve in while also identifying particular people to invite and encourage to come with you.
● Coffee/Fellowship Time Hosts – From 9:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. each Sunday, the Fellowship Hall will be available for conversation and connecting. We’re looking for groups and/or individuals who are willing to serve as hosts during that period. Coffee and juice will be provided but we’re looking for volunteers to help with set up and clean up, to bring other goodies and to provide hospitality. Maybe your Sunday School Class could actually meet there one Sunday and offer an emphasis on fellowship and getting to know each other. Who knows, maybe you can even recruit some new class members!
● Growth Team – volunteers interested in talking with and listening to new people and how we might draw them to the church; interested in intentionally developing ways to invite and listen to people in the community we may know or in our neighborhoods who may be looking for a way to connect with a church. Team members will meet together and brainstorm ideas and actions.
Sign up sheets are in the Fellowship Hall or you can contact the church office.
Our next hike is scheduled for Saturday, May 19. Meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. Sign up through the church office so that we can let you know of any schedule adjustments.
