In John Wesley’s famous sermon, “The Almost Christian,” he encouraged people to follow Christ wholeheartedly. In  Almost Christmas: A Wesleyan Advent Experience,  author and pastor Magrey deVega leads a group of authors in exploring how we can make the same commitment to Christ during Advent, and connect our Wesleyan heritage with the traditional Advent themes of Love, Hope, Joy, and Peace.
Many thanks to the Upper Parlor Sunday School Class!!!
Welcome to our newest members!

The Salvation Army will have their annual Thanksgiving Dinner in our Fellowship Hall again this year. If you would like to participate with dishes or serving, feel free to contact Lori Baber at 615-390-8490 or Julie Lowe at 865-696-4469

Our Annual Christmas Pageant requires many hands to pull everything together for the Children’s Christmas Program and Potluck Dinner . Some of the roles are already covered, but we still need help with many things:

  • A couple extra hands to help with the kids during our rehearsals and performance. Rehearsals are from 4:30-5:30 on the 4th and 11th. Our program is the 11th at 6:00.
  • Assistance with sorting and dewrinkling costumes. Costumes need to be ready by Dec 11th at 5:30.
  • Setup of backdrop for Christmas Pageant. Stage needs to be ready by 4:30 dress rehearsal on the 11th.
  • Help setting up Fellowship Hall for the Christmas Dinner. It is helpful to have this done by early afternoon on the 11th.
  • Purchase of supplies for the dinner. Decorations, plates, etc.
  • Help with preparation of meat, rolls and drinks for the Christmas Dinner.
  • Side Dishes and desserts! The church is providing meat, rolls and drinks.
  • Help getting the dishes set out that come in just before the Christmas Program.
  • Clean up after the Christmas Dinner

NEEDED: SOUND TECHNICIANS
We are looking for volunteers to run the sound board during the 10:30 service. With the changes in the services, we currently only have 3 people serving.
The sound board is set up before the service by Alan and the current volunteers are willing to help train anyone who would like to serve. If you are interested
or want more information, please contact Bruce Recktenwald at 214-564-8315 or by email at bruce.recktenwald@sbcglobal.net. This is an easy way to serve
Broadway in this vital area.
The Salvation Army needs toiletries for Christmas gift bags. Do you have a drawer full of travel sized toiletries that you wish were gone? Can you purchase a few small items so that our Salvation Army friends have a gift bag for Christmas? The following items are needed by December 20 and can be placed in the designated box on the Fellowship Hall counter: soap, shampoo, lotion, body wash, socks (for men and women), and chocolate. In light of our current generosity challenge, this is another great way to respond. Please help make Christmas merrier for others in our community in this small but important way. Thank you!
Altar Guild is sponsoring Poinsettia Memorials again this year. The flowers will be red, and we purchase them from William Blount High School as a way of supporting our local youth. They will adorn the church from Sunday, December 15 through Sunday, December 22. You are welcome to take your flower home at that time. We appreciate those that are left, which carry us through Christmas itself.

Orders can be placed through Sunday, December 8. Call the church office, or look for forms in the sanctuary pew pads.

All the money this year is being donated to the church's Helping Hand Fund. This fund has been in existence at Broadway for at least 70 years. Members' generous donations have helped many people with utility bills, new work shoes, car repairs, and prescriptions.
Parent's Day Out is looking for volunteers to help in set-up, cook, wait tables and cleanup. If you can help support one of our Children's Ministries in this way, please CLICK HERE.
Bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share.
The church will provide Ham, rolls and drinks.
Broadway has been asked to staff the Salvation Army kettle at the Kroger on Hall Street on Saturday, December 21 from 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
Shifts are two hours, and if you want to arrange it, you can share a shift with friends or family members. Dress festively (and warmly), and for more fun, play or sing and dance to Christmas music. Children are very welcome, but need to be accompanied by adults. Teens, aged 14 and up, need to have an adult chaperone on site, if not at the kettle. Let’s represent Broadway well and make a difference in our local community! Contact Jene Thompson at 865-681-1422.
