Our sermon series for the month of November will be based be based on this book focusing on these abiding truths and will become abundantly clear as we navigate the Generosity Challenge : Nov. 3 "Born to Be Generous," Nov. 10 "Grounded in Gratitude," Nov. 17 "Revealed Through Prayer," and Nov. 24 "Sealed by Faith."

Broadway UMC Habitat Volunteers will re-build a small porch and steps plus add a ramp for an 87 year-old lady. By now, we have these projects down pat! On Thursday, Scott Dahms and Bill Ribble will lead volunteers in tearing away the old structure and blocking in the new. We probably need only 2 additional volunteers that day. On Friday and Saturday, Nov 8 & 9th, we need additional volunteers to help complete the project. Depending on the number of volunteers, we should have most of work done by Friday. We can use your help on any or all of these days. If you have volunteered before, we hope you will come again. If you are new to Habitat, please join us! Along with our work, we always have fun and always have delicious cookies for snacks!!

Project: The project involves building a 5’ x 10’ front porch, a 4 step stairs, and a 32 ft long handicap ramp plus removing the old structure.

Smoky Mountain District UMW Annual Meeting and Officer Training on Nov 2 was held at Broadway United Methodist Church in Maryville with music from our Praise Band. 68 women gathered in our chapel. $900

Family Promise Training Available!

Do you have a Servant’s Heart? If you are looking for an opportunity to put that servant’s heart into action, Family Promise is a great way to get started! Volunteer training is available on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 4:30 to 5:30 at the Blount County Family Promise Day Center located in the old Bungalow UMC on Pinedale St. If you have any interaction with the families in the Family Promise program, you should make plans to attend. Training will be offered throughout the coming year, but this is the last opportunity in 2019. Please consider attending this one-hour session so that you can join the Broadway FP team for 2020! If you have questions, contact Mary Lynn Roy at [email protected] or 724-6234 .

Day In Season Finale will be Tuesday, November 12, at noon, with guest speaker, Charles W. Maynard, a Broadway favorite. Charles is an ordained United Methodist minister, storyteller, and author. He has served in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He has authored or co-authored 31 books, including 22 children’s books. He has also written United Methodist Sunday school and devotional literature as well as numerous magazine articles. Charles is known for his telling of traditional Appalachian Mountain tales, stories of American history, and personal narratives of growing up in the Cumberlands of Tennessee. Charles worked as the first executive director of Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and was named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the History of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Charles is now serving as an associate pastor at Cokesbury UMC in Knoxville. Charles married his high school sweetheart, Janice, who is a well-known novelist. They have two daughters, and five grandchildren. Charles and Janice enjoy writing, traveling and spending time with their family.
Plan to join us at noon for a pot luck lunch, drinks are provided. This event is open to all ages.

NEEDED: SOUND TECHNICIANS
We are looking for volunteers to run the sound board during the 10:30 service. With the changes in the services, we currently only have 3 people serving.
The sound board is set up before the service by Alan and the current volunteers are willing to help train anyone who would like to serve. If you are interested

Join us for a Bonfire at Camp Wesley Woods. Meet us at 3:30 in the church parking lot to carpool, or 4:00 up at Camp. Cost is $5:00 a person, which covers supper and the bonfire. If you are interested in attending, please CLICK HERE and let us know.
The hike to the Walker Sisters Place in the Great Smoky Mountains begins from the Little Brier Gap Trailhead at Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area. Round trip distance is under 3 miles and is rated as a relatively easy trail for the Smokey mountains. There is not much overall elevation gain from Metcalf Bottoms to the Walker Sister Cabin. We will gather in the church parking lot a little before 10:00 to carpool to Metcalf Bottoms. If you would like to meet us at Metcalf Bottoms at 10:45 please still email the church office by CLICKING HERE so we know who is meeting us in the parking lot and who is meeting us at the trailhead. Pack a water bottle or two and bring a picnic lunch to eat on the porch of the Walker Sister’s Cabin! Hope you will join us! This is a hike for everyone, young and old!

The Salvation Army will have their annual Thanksgiving Dinner in our Fellowship Hall again this year. They rely on people making dishes, casseroles, vegetables, sides or desserts as we feed close to 100+ people. All ladies are invited to "A Gathering at Advent" on Monday, December 2, at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Our featured guest is Joyce Maynard, well-known author and storyteller. Dessert and assorted beverages will be served. There is no cost for attending the event, however, an offering will be taken for Susannah’s House, an intensive outpatient recovery program for mothers recovering from addiction and the children of those mothers.
