Remembering History & Building The Future!

Broadway Park is getting closer every day to being completed. We are currently waiting on the pre-cast bathroom facility, the handicap swing, surveillance cameras and for Ameren to install power. The pickle ball courts and basketball court have been painted and sealed. It looks very nice! Unfortunately, we have had some acts of vandalism already. Please work with us, taking care of this investment for our residents. One of the City’s goals for years was to have a splash pad for the children. The City had also received many requests for pickle ball courts. If you see something going on that shouldn’t be, please call the police department at 815-795-2131. If we all work together, we can keep this park nice for a very long time.

There are many events scheduled for the Memorial Wall this summer and the City would like to have the museum open during these events. Memorial Day Weekend is also a very busy time at the wall. If anyone is interested in donating some time staffing and watching over the museum contact Dan Jackson 815-735-2959.

The City has nothing new to report on Constellation plans for the property that they are purchasing. As of this writing, they have stated that they aren’t sure what they are going to do yet. Nothing has changed since this last correspondence:

"Mayor Hollenbeck,

As one of the largest and longest-standing employers in the region, Constellation has a long track record of supporting Marseilles, LaSalle County and other Illinois communities where we live and work.

We have recently purchased land near our LaSalle Clean Energy Center to strategically market its carbon-free electricity generation for potential development with major companies capable of bringing additional jobs and tax money to the region. No decision has been made on the future use of this property.

Also, Constellation Energy Generation does not own, or operate public water systems.

Ryan Tozer"

It’s unfortunate the number of rumors and misinformation. Hence, the last sentence from Mr. Tozer to quash the rumor that Constellation has purchased the City water tower and wastewater treatment. Rest assured the City would love to know what the future holds.

The City and the Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday for Rivers Edge Restaurant & Pub. Please visit them on Facebook here. Our marketing director has created a video for Rivers Edge that has received over 77k in organic views. As of this morning the Rivers Edge Restaurant & Pub video had reached almost 77,000 NON-BOOSTED views and 225 shares.

Put simply, when someone shares a post on Facebook, their friends see the content. Then those friends share the content and the process continues. The growth is organic and has multiplied exponentially. This is good for the City because many of the viewers of the post are non-followers, which means this is all new to them. The hope is that visitors will come to Rivers Edge and then next time, visit another restaurant or business in town. When the City grows, it's good for everyone! We will be making more videos of our businesses. It is the City's continued obligation to assist and support all of our businesses. We want them all to be successful.

The Rivers Edge Restaurant and Pub Video is available on Youtube here.

The data above shows: 77,256 views reaching 54,087 people. The reason for the views being higher than the reach is, some viewers have watched the video multiple times.

225 shares of the video for Rivers Edge Restaurant and Pub!

Dylan Trettenero has wrapped up his Eagle Scout Project of installing a dog park at the Municipal Boat Launch at 1197 Broadway Street. Great job Dylan, it will be a great asset to the area and the community. Dylan was able to remove the dog park from my list of goals. Thank you, Dylan.
