Coming Up...
Register for Sept. 15 CROP Hunger Walk! CROP Walk
It is already time to begin planning your all activities - and we hope that the annual  CROP Hunger Walk will be on your "to do" list for September 15!  Don Harter will be sitting just outside the Narthex doors for the next few Sundays to register our Broadway walkers.
This year's CROP Walk will begin at 2:00 p.m., with registration starting at 1:00 p.m.  But why not change into your walking shoes right after church and join us at the Collins Shelter in Stephens Lake Park at 12:30 for hot dogs and chips?!!  Broadway's Mission and Outreach Ministry is providing this pre-Walk lunch for all walkers!
Meet and Greet Opportunities  Are Set!
We will all see and hear Broadway's new Lead Minister, Mark Briley, from the pulpit on September 8.  But if you would enjoy an opportunity to meet Mark and his family in a more casual setting, you will get your chance very soon!
Please take a look at  the  Briley Gathering Schedule to find the day and time that works for you.  Please note - you will need to rsvp to the Hosts of the Gathering you choose.
Caregiver's Support Group
The Caregiver's Support Group is open to all Broadway members and the Columbia community as a resource for those who are caring for others - in the home or in a care facility.  Caregiver's will meet this Monday, September 9, at Noon, in our Conference Room.  Bring your lunch and share in conversation with those who are caring for loved ones.  Contact  David and Patsy Dalton for more informtion.
Local Civil Rights Pilgrimage Fifth Street exterior
There have been two Pilgrimages to historical civil rights sites  in the South; however, Columbia has its share of iconic civil rights historic sites as well.  Please join us on Sunday, September 22, for a Columbia Civil Rights Pilgrimage, a journey that will take us to Columbia's historically black churches, the streets of Sharpend and a visit from the famous Biscuit Lady!
The Pilgrimage begins at 3:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Methodist Church.  You will have the option of riding the Broadway bus, especially if you feel the walk will be difficult for you.  The bus will leave the Broadway parking lot at 2:30 p.m. - please contact  Don Day if you will need the bus.  The Pilgrimage will end at St. Luke's with a hymn sign and a dessert potluck.
60+ Is Now Seasoned Spirits!
The NEW Seasoned Spirits
For more than 20 years, Darlene and Jack Miles coordinated Broadway's fellowship for members who were 60 and over.  What a blessing they have been to our members, and although they have "retired" from this time-intensive ministry, 60+ will continue with new leadership and a new name!
Seasoned Spirits is Broadway's new fellowship for members 50 and over, and is now coordinated by Marcia Walker - along with a team of volunteers!  The monthly lunches will continue, with some changes in scheduling.  There will also be a series of local day trips to see and do things like a visit to the new State Historical Society on Thursday, September 12, at 1:00 p.m.!
September 16 Lunch
To kick off our Seasoned Spirits fellowship, the first lunch program will feature Broadway's new Lead Minister, Mark Briley, and his wife, Carrie, on Monday, September 16 at Noon.  Lunch will be Chinese and your rsvp is needed by September 11 .  If you have questions, please11 contact  Marcia Walker for more information about Seasoned Spirits events and lunches.
Go Paperless!
One more reason to go paperless?  You would already have received this month's Broadway Life!    Just email  Debby and begin saving trees for all of us and postage expense for Broadway!
A Special Harp & Healing on September 17
Mark your calendars for a special Harp and Healing on Tuesday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m.  We will move the service into the Sanctuary, as we welcome  those attending the Partners in Ministry worship as our guests.  This special Harp and Healing will last approximately one hour, include communion and will be followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall.
