Happy Mother's Day!

MONEY IS ONLY TEMPORARY. When Jesus preached his marvelous Sermon on the Mount, He spoke of giving in this manner: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

What our Lord is saying here is that earthly possessions are only temporary, ours to use and enjoy for a few brief years. Yet what we give to advance the Kingdom of God will serve us forever in ways unexplainable in human terms.

In his first letter to Timothy (I Timothy 6: 17-19), Paul reemphasizes the fleeting quality of money: Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

This is not to say that people with money are not and cannot be devoted followers of Jesus. Many are and, in fact, most who are quickly give credit to a loving heavenly Father for their privileged station in life.

Service of Honoring Transition
Sunday, June 2
2:30-5:30 p.m.
We extend this invitation as an important part of our interim ministry work through these difficult, sad and confusing transitional months as the body of Christ at Broadway.
This service will help us to process both the grief and the celebration of the ministries that have brought us to the ground on which we stand.
We will prayerfully and creatively til the soil for what is planting now and imagine together the fruits to come.
Please consider joining us in this afternoon of interim processing, ritual and celebration.
Register Now to ROAR at Broadway's VBS!
Hard to believe, but it is time to register for our 2019 Vacation Bible School at Broadway!  This year's VBS will be held July 8-11, from 8:30 a.m.-Noon, and our kids and their friends learn about the lives of the people of Israel during their time in Egypt.  Roar: Life Is Wild, God Is Good VBS will include building projects, but also look at how God's good blessing impact our lives every day and in every way!
Registration forms are available here, and in the church office and at all Welcome Centers.  In addition, you may also register your child for after-VBS care (think Adventure Club).  This option includes snacks and supervised activities for your children until pick-up time at 6:00 p.m.  The after-VBS option cost is $75, and is limited to 25 children.  Deadline to register is June 16.   Download a registration form.
Be A Sunday Morning Servant! chalice
Did you realize that it takes more than 30 people every Sunday  morning to make church happen?  And that doesn't include our dedicated Christian Ed teachers and leaders!
Please take a look at the opportunities to serve on Sunday morning (in your church mailbox) and sign up!  All Sunday volunteers serve on a rotating schedule and schedules can be adjusted to fit your schedule - just in case you already know that you will be in Florida January-February (lucky you!).  If you have questions about Sunday Morning volunteering, please contact  Ingrid.
