 Sermon:  Wear It: Gratitude
Scripture:  Colossians 3: 12-16 (NRSV)
This Sunday's Sermon...
While people are often critical of the wardrobe choices of others, they don't tend to be critical of one wearing gratitude. "They're just so grateful! Ewww." No. With Thanksgiving on our hearts, our stomachs, and the calendar this week, it is always a good reminder to put on gratitude. If gratitude were labeled by the days of the week, it might be the piece in your wardrobe worth wearing everyday.
Worship Together-Safely
BCC In-Person Worship Ceases
 Dear Broadway Family and Friends,
Alongside our neighbors in the city of Columbia, we are watching the ongoing struggle with COVID-19. Broadway members and friends have suffered with the virus, and healthcare workers continue to express exhaustion as hospital beds are sparse and resources are strained.
While our staff remains healthy, and our congregational practices are the safest possible, we wish not to further complicate community focus in the coming weeks as COVID counts elevate rapidly. We are not afraid. We trust the proven protocols that our COVID Advisory Team has crafted for safe community engagement. It is, however, out of a spirit of love for our community that we have decided to cease in-person worship gatherings beginning this Sunday, November 22, until the end of the year.
Pastorally, we lament this reality knowing our gathering for worship has been meaningful and uplifting for all who have come. We look forward to the next time we can gather again safely.
We will continue to pursue creative ways to stay connected to one another during this season. Virtual worship services will continue at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning as will virtual Sunday School and Small Group options. Zoom @ Noon with our pastoral team will continue every Monday.
Our prayers are full for each of you and for the promised end of this trying season of separation. We believe it is coming and with new vision to unfold in 2021, we believe the best is yet to come.
In Christ's Love,
Mark Briley, Terry Overfelt, John DeLaporte
Support Higher Education with Thanksgiving Offering
Disciples have a long history of founding institutions of higher learning and encouraging students in their intellectual pursuits. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is committed to higher education.

On November 22, Disciples churches across the U.S. and Canada will collect the Thanksgiving offering. Your gift to the Thanksgiving offering supports the work of our institutions of higher learning in many ways: financially supporting Disciples schools, providing undergraduate scholarships and support for spiritual life offices, and providing scholarships and support for those pursuing theological education. Please consider giving generously to this year's Thanksgiving offering. Your gifts make a world of difference as Disciples continue our legacy of supporting education and our institutions of higher learning.
Zoom  In @ Noon with Mark, Terry & John
As we are going to safely be church together, now may be the time to join your pastors and friends on the Zoom @ Noon. The group meets for a bit less than hour, and you never know whose face you'll see or voice you'll hear - maybe a Broadway member who has moved or a member who you haven't seen since outdoor worship.   Pastor Mark, Pastor Terry and John will be available over the noon hour for conversation and reflection - the casual and important moments that we miss on Sunday morning!  Just click on the image and join the conversation.
Church Office Hours for Thanksgiving
The church office will be closed from noon on Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27, 2020, in order to observe the Thanksgiving holiday.

If you have an emergency, please leave a message at 445-5312; messages will be checked regularly.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and all our Broadway family!

Tree of Hope Tradition Continues
Broadway has a long history of providing Christmas joy for many in our community. The Tree of Hope is a great way to continue our tradition. Check out this video from Adonica about this year's touchless tree. Then, please follow this link for our Virtual Tree of Hope. There you will find a signup for children with their ages, interests, and needs.

Once you have selected a recipient (or more if you are able), you will purchase gifts to benefit those at Coyote Hill, West Middle School, Alpha Hart Elementary, and Center for Early Learning North. All gifts may be dropped off outside the main doors during church office hours by Sunday, December 13th. Please make sure that your gift is clearly marked with the name of your selected individual or individuals.
