Begin Your Year With a Backpack Blessing!
The first official day of school is August 15, and we want to send all Broadway kids off to class with a special blessing for the academic year on Sunday, August 11!  All school-age children (college included!) are invited to bring  backpacks to church and come forward during our Young Disciples Moment for a special blessing from Pastor Nick!  Backpacks (and those carrying them) will be blessed at each worship service!
Sunday at 6:00 p.m....
Youth Group Meetings BeginLoft - icy
School really does start on August 15...and before everyone is entirely caught up with those busy first weeks of the academic year - Broadway Youth Group kicks off on Sunday, August 11, from 6:00-7:00 p.m.!  Connect with Broadway friends after your busy summer and join us for this fun kick-off to another great year! We invite both youth and parents to this kickoff.

Join Us on a Puerto Rico Mission Trip
Mission and Outreach Ministry's upcoming trip to Puerto Rico will be working with those affected by last year's hurricanes - the same people disparaged by Puerto Rico's former governor.  The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has established a long-term recovery mission station near San Juan, knowing that this process will take years.  Our team is scheduled to serve the week of October 20, and we need your commitment by August 15 in order plan and purchase airline tickets.  If you would like more information, please contact  Debby.
Volunteers Needed for All God's Children
Greetings Broadway!
I will be leaving Broadway Christian Church and it is very bittersweet, as I was just getting started. Before I go, I want to equip your walk with our All God's Children kids. The person who will come after me will need about 9 volunteers to support the ministry of AGC . This number of people would allow each person to serve on a monthly basis during the 10:10 Christian Education Hour, or the 11:10 All God's Children's Worship Hour.
As a volunteer, you are a 'buddy' for the kids. You are a person that is there to support them when a craft gets too tricky to open, or to walk around the gym when sitting down is too tedious. During the AGC Worship Hour, you are the eyes of the teacher if students need an escort to the restroom, the hands to pass out markers, or press play on the CD player. You are the hands and feet of the ministry, doing the little things that make everything else successful.
Please consider deeply and pray into walking with this wonderful ministry. Contact Nick or Terry to let them know of your willingness and even eagerness to help.
Many Blessings,
Jo Scott
Share the Story of Your Water at Co-Mingling
Water is within us and the very air we breathe.  Water can be placid and calm; or water cab churn and destroy as swollen rivers and streams push out and over banks and levees.
However you experienced water in your travels or in your life as a citizen of flood-ravaged Missouri, we invite you to share your stories and waters with your Broadway family on Sunday, September 8.  At all worship services, you will be invited to come forward and share a brief story of your water's impact, and then combine your waters with the waters of other members.  The collected waters will be poured over our Memorial Garden.  If you have waters and a story to share, please contact  Pastor Terry.
Scoop Up Some Fellowship!
Broadway's Ice Cream Social is certainly one of our sweeter traditional fellowship gatherings!  On Sunday, August 18, at 3:00 p.m., join us in Fellowship Hall for ice cream and more - all enjoyed in the good company of Broadway friends!
Fellowship Ministry would like to have a good estimate of how many folks will be bringing homemade ice cream to share, or contributing baked goods to add to the dessert menu.  Look for a postcard rsvp form in your church mailbox, or simply  email Dixie Fisher.  Your response will help us make sure that we have enough of everything!

Cake Walk Returns! chocolate-curl-cake.jpg
Back by popular demand - our Ice Cream Social Cake Walk!!  Children of all ages are invited to join us in the CLC for a chance to take home a delicious baked treat . Donations of baked items (homemade or store-bought) are welcome!
Youth Car Wash
Broadway's Youth will barely be back from their mission trip, and here they go to work again!  On Sunday, August 18, from Noon-3:00 p.m., give your vehicle a little TLC and help Broadway Youth raise funds for a new year of activities and fellowship!  All donations will be gratefully accepted, and provide the seed money for the 2020 Mission Trip!
Junior Youth Fellowship Returns !
Sunday, August 18, is going to be very busy day at Broadway!  Adding to the fun will be the return of Junior Youth Fellowship, a gathering of our "big kids" in grades 3-5.  JYF begins at 12:15 p.m. with a light lunch, followed by fun fellowship and activities that may happen off Broadway's campus or within our walls.  Parents of  Big Kids can get more information from  Miss Aimee and add Broadway's JYF gatherings to their fall schedule!
Tomato Forecast - 90% Chance of  Red & Ripe
Take a stroll to Fellowship Hall this Sunday to find out if our Broadway home gardeners have  brought in their surplus tomatoes to share!!
This summer's Table has been stocked with a variety of produce - just make your choice and then make a donation for your selection.  All money raised will support our offering to Church World Services through the Festival of Sharing.
Newsletter Email Savings Add Up!
Thanks to all of all members who opted for a digital copy of our monthly Broadway Life newsletter, we save almost $15 in postage costs alone for August!  We printed approximately 75 fewer copies of the newsletter, so we also saved paper and copier costs!
We would love to add your email to the list of those receiving the newsletter in their in-box!  Simply  email  Debby to begin receiving your Broadway Life electronically!
