| | | Jesus calls us by name and invites us to follow his voice. In John 10:1 - 8, we are reminded that the shepherd knows his sheep and leads them toward life. As we gather for worship, may we quiet the noise around us, listen for the voice of love, and open our hearts to the One who calls us into community, compassion, and abundant life. Come as you are. There is a place for you here! | | | News and A Look At What's Coming Up | | |

439 Food Items Donated- 310 Miles Walked
The results are in, and once again, the 310 Food Drive Challenge is a BIG WIN for our community!
Thanks to everyone who participated, donations will support the Russell Chapel and Destiny Worship Center Food Pantries, Fifth Street Christian Church Feed the Community, and Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen.
Last year’s friendly competition brought in 381 food items, and this year, we came together once again to turn a little friendly rivalry into a whole lot of good!
Thank you to everyone who donated, provided the delicious donuts to those who brought food donations, cheered us on, and helped make this challenge such a success. When we come together, our generosity reaches far beyond Broadway!
Broadway trounces Don, but our whole community wins!

Trunk or Treat is in Ten Days
Get ready for an afternoon of Halloween fun at Broadway Christian Church! Our annual Trunk or Treat is Sunday, October 25, from 3:00–5:00 pm, and we need your help to make it a fun, welcoming afternoon for our families and community.
We have just three volunteer trunks signed up so far, and we need MANY more to make this event a success! Whether you have participated for years or are thinking about joining us for the first time, we would love to have you. It is a wonderful way to share some Halloween fun, connect with our neighbors, and show our community what Broadway hospitality looks like.
Volunteers can use our handy signup to:
- Decorate a trunk! Get creative, silly, spooky, or completely out-of-the-box with your Halloween theme.
- Donate candy! Help keep our trunks stocked with plenty of treats.
- Be a face painter! If you have a gift for creating fun faces, we would love your help.
You do not have to do it all. Bring a decorated trunk, donate a bag (or several!) of candy, share your face-painting talents, or lend a hand wherever you are needed. Every volunteer makes a difference, and every bit of help is appreciated!
Come be part of the fun and help us make this a memorable afternoon for our children, families, and neighbors. Bring your family, invite your friends, and plan to join us. All are welcome, and we suggest coming hungry! Our partner, Pull Up Food Truck, will be serving a special themed menu.
Ready to help? Sign up today! Volunteer for Trunk or Treat Questions or want to help? Contact Ashley Mills or Abigail Grisolano. Thank you for helping Broadway make room for fun, connection, and community!

Our Turn to Take Care of Kristi
If you know Kristi Larsen, you know she is always taking care of everyone and somehow managing all the things. Now it’s our turn to take care of her.
On October 8, Kristi had surger to repair her mitral valve, which has been causing trouble because of a genetic condition called Barlow’s disease. Kristi and her husband, Soren, are home and Kristi has begun the next part of her recovery.
And, as many of us know, the hardest part for someone like Kristi may be slowing down, resting, and letting other people handle things for a while!
That’s where we come in.
We’ve created a page for updates, opportunities to help, meal needs, and other ways we can support Kristi and Soren as they navigate recovery.

Broadway's Mission Mover: A Floor That Serves
Get ready, BCC family! We have launched an exciting new fundraising campaign to replace our gym floor. This project is about far more than just replacement of an aging floor — it is about creating A Floor That Serves. We will be investing in ministry, community connections, youth development and the future of our church. What an impactful way to strengthen our core values of Broad Hearts, Broad Minds, and Broad Reach.
Mark your calendars for the next Town Hall Meetings on October 25 at 12:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. In the meantime, check your email for the new donor tiers - from Broadway Spirit Supporters to Foundation Builders—and learn how Every Step Matters. Our goal is to have the first $86,400 of Phase 1 raised and collected by November 25 and we already have over $60,000 pledged! There are many of us who can already imagine children laughing and playing, families gathering, as they feel the Broadway Spirit when they walk through the CLC doors! Can you see the vision?? Help us build a foundation that serves generations to come!
Ways to give: Realm/CLC Renovation Fund, Cash or Check designated to CLC Ren Fund, Venmo (Broadway Christian Church @2601), PayPal, RMD or stocks!

Welcome to the Broadway Family!
Please join us in giving a big, warm Broadway welcome to our newest members, David and Janis Bethel and Shay, Andy, Evie, and Eric Schroetter!
We are so glad you are here! Broadway is a place where we grow in faith, build friendships, serve our neighbors, and celebrate the many gifts each person brings to our community.
The next time you see our newest members, be sure to share a smile, introduce yourself, and help them feel at home. We are grateful our Broadway family continues to grow, and we look forward to sharing in this journey together.
Welcome to Broadway, where love leads and there is room for everyone!

Why We Feed Teachers
Preschool teachers focus their attention on the positive development of the children in their classrooms. When preparing for parent/teacher conferences they have multiple anecdotal records to share with parents/guardians of the wonderful progress their child is making. This can be the first time a parent may be receiving positive feedback from the school system. It can make a big difference in how the parents relate not only to their child, but also to the school experience.
That’s just one of the reasons we are proud to partner with the Center for Early Learning-North! Not only have the teachers spent hours preparing for their conferences, they allow 30 minutes for each family, as opposed to the 10-15 minutes parents receive in elementary grades. Knowing that others care enough to prepare a hot delicious meal is very uplifting for the teachers. Of course, taking this on means we will be feeding 50 adults for four nights.
You can help by bringing a crock pot of soup or a dessert to church or to CELN between Noon and 3 pm on Monday, October 26 through Thursday, October 29. Sign up here.

Food Bank Volunteer Opportunities Have Returned
Until recently, Broadway partnered with the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri to host a monthly Mobile Pantry food distribution on site, In April, this distribution option transitioned, and we have been working to identify an alternative to this ministry for the last few months. As such, we are delighted to invite Broadway members (and friends) to join us in the Volunteer Room at the Food Bank (2101 Vandiver Drive), on Wednesday, October 28 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A block of volunteer spots has been dedicated to Broadway, and you can sign up to support this work by clicking on the link below.

Every Ability Flourishes Updates
During the month of October, we are highlighting the importance of inclusion in the life of the church.
Celebrating persons of all abilities starts with each member of Broadway. Becoming more informed about available resources is a great way to learn more and do more. Here’s some great websites to check out: Collaborative on Faith & Disabilities, https://faithanddisability.org; Wheaton Center for Faith and Disability www.wheaton.edu/wheaton-center-for-faith-and-disability; Joni&Friends info@joniandfriends.org; Disability Ministry https://abilityministry.com and the Faith Inclusion Network www.faithinclusionnetwork.org are just a few sites that can help BCC be a place that is welcoming and inclusive for all.

Art, Body and Soul: A Women’s Retreat
Save the Date: February 19–20, 2027
Retreat Leader: Coletta Eichenberger
Reconnect. Create. Reflect. Renew.
Join us for Art, Body and Soul, a creative and reflective retreat inspired by The Art of Ensoulment by Cynthia Winton-Henry. Together, we will explore the art of movement, the art of story, and the art of seeing, making space to reconnect with ourselves, one another, and the Spirit within us.
No experience necessary in any art form! This retreat is not about creating a perfect piece of art. It is about making room for curiosity, expression, discovery, and the gifts that make each of us unique. You ARE the best work of art, created in the image of the Creator of all life.
Registration is $50, and scholarships are available. Payment can be made through the Realm dropdown or by dropping off a check to register.
| Seasoned Spirits Thanks Abound | |
The October Seasoned Spirits meeting was packed to hear Brianna Lennon, Boone County County Clerk. Brianna gave a very informative presentation about the election process in Boone County. We thank her for her dedication and service to public service.
Please save the date for our next luncheon on November 9. During this time together we will recognize our veterans and it will serve as our holiday meal.
