Abide Worship

This Sunday, we’ll gather for worship and reflect on Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:21–35, a story that challenges us to think about forgiveness, grace, and what it means to extend the mercy we have received.

How many times do we forgive? How much is enough? And what might change when mercy becomes something we practice rather than something we measure?

Come join us this Sunday as we worship, wonder, and consider what it means to live with hearts that make room for grace.

News and A Look At What's Coming Up

Dear Broadway Family,

Following a meeting held during the first week of August and subsequent action, we are providing an update on the Christian Life Center (CLC) gym renovation project and share upcoming opportunities for our Congregation to learn more, ask questions, and participate in the conversation about the future of this space.

The Importance of Communication — Upcoming Meeting

We recognize the importance of communication throughout this process. In that spirit, we are pleased to announce an upcoming town hall meeting, which will be held in the CLC on:

  • Sunday, September 13 (12:15–1:30 p.m.) This meeting has been cancelled.
  • Thursday, September 17 (6:30–7:45 p.m.)

The primary purpose is to provide opportunities for everyone to understand the vision, ask questions, and provide feedback so that we can make thoughtful decisions and move forward in the best interest of the Church. As we continue to explore the possibilities, there are many considerations to take into account including:

  • Our existing and future use of the CLC, both sports and non-sports related

  • The scope and phasing of any potential renovation
  • Financial requirements and future fundraising opportunities
  • Safety and security
  • The long-term financial stability of the Church
  • Congregational input and support

All are invited to join the planning group as we prepare for Mid-Missouri PrideFest, September 26-27. Come join our joyful team as we prepare to spread God’s love to the community! All meetings will be in the BCC large conference room.

Monday, 9/21, 6-7pm – Final details (float fluffing/repair and final prep)

You don't have to attend the planning meetings to be part of the fun. Be on the lookout for a sign-up form for volunteers to help staff the Broadway booth throughout the PrideFest weekend. Whether you can give us an hour or two or spend more time with us, we would love to have you join the team at the booth!

And, of course, make plans to join us for the Pride Parade! Bring your family, friends, and your joyful Broadway spirit as we celebrate love, inclusion, and our whole community together.

You can also help by providing items from their wishlist. Choose from tissue paper, friendship bracelets, skittles, and more ways to help Broadway and this ministry make an impact in our community. Find the wishlist here.

Happiness is Handbells

Do you enjoy the beautiful sounds of handbells in worship at Broadway? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be part of the group making that music?

Chancel Bells is looking for new members! Come join a welcoming group that enjoys making music, learning together, and sharing the joy of handbell music in worship. Previous music-reading experience is helpful, but not required. What matters most is a willingness to learn!

Whether you’ve rung handbells before or have always been curious to give it a try, this is a great opportunity to have fun, make new friends, share your gifts, and help fill our worship with music.

Rehearsals: Thursdays, 6:00–7:00 p.m.

Engaging and Serving

Join Team Broadway for the 2026 CROP Hunger Walk!

Sunday, September 20, 2026

Stephens Lake Park, Gordon Shelter

Registration: 1:00 p.m. | Walk begins: 1:30 p.m.

We invite Broadway members of all ages to join Team Broadway for this year’s Columbia CROP Hunger Walk.

The CROP Hunger Walk brings people together to help fight hunger and food insecurity both in our local community and around the world. It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors, enjoy time together, and put our faith into action.

Can’t walk this year? You can still be part of Team Broadway! Whether you’re unable to participate because of mobility, health, scheduling, or simply because walking isn’t your thing, you can make a difference by sponsoring our walkers. Every gift helps!

Come walk with us, eat pizza to support us, or cheer us on. There’s a place for everyone on Team Broadway!

Free Labyrinth Retreat

We are all invited to join the annual Fall Labyrinth Retreat on Saturday, September 19 from 10 am - noon here at Rock Bridge Christian Church.

Rev. Kim Leon, a Disciples of Christ minister, chaplain, and member at Rock Bridge CC will lead a morning of learning and exploration of labyrinths, including a brief presentation, time for a labyrinth walk and/or finger labyrinth practice, and opportunities to reflect, meditate, pray and create.

This retreat is free and all are welcome to attend. RSVP by September 14, so they will have enough materials and refreshments.

Contact Kim at kimberlykleon@gmail.com or call our church office (573-442-9592) if you have any questions.

They've held this retreat for three years for their members and now are looking forward to sharing the experience with a wider circle this year!

Children's & Youth Update

Youth Group Reminders

We're excited to invite our incoming high school freshmen to our annual Good Egg Breakfast this Sunday, September 13!

The Good Egg Breakfast is a special opportunity for the youth staff to take our incoming freshmen out for breakfast and fellowship.

If you have a freshman who would like to attend, please contact Ashley Mills or Abigail Grisolano by Friday, September 11. This will give us time to make pickup and breakfast arrangements. We're looking forward to a fun morning together and getting to spend some time with our newest high school students!

We Need YOU for Pride Sunday!

Pride Sunday is Sunday, September 27, and we want our Broadway youth to be part of the celebration!

Our Youth Ensemble will sing the anthem during the 9:00 AM worship service, and then we’ll head to the Pride Parade together. Youth will have the chance to represent Broadway on the Broadway float and sing along to some fun karaoke tracks as we celebrate our community.

You do not have to be a seasoned singer to participate. Whether you have sung with the ensemble before or this would be your first time, we would love to have you join us!

Pride Sunday Rehearsal Schedule

Sunday, September 13 | 12:15–1:15 PM

Sunday, September 20 | 12:15 PM

A quick run-through before we head over to the CROP Walk.

Sunday, September 27 | Pride Sunday

Thank You

The Stallman family thanks you for all the cards, hugs, words of sympathy, and loving care you have shown us during this difficult time. Jim’s Celebration of Life held at the church was exactly as he envisioned with beautiful music provided by Ed Varnum, outstanding food, and a room full of people sharing memories, laughter, and good times. Love did lead!
