Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

We all want to hear God speak to us. In fact, listening to God is a part of our faith, but it doesn’t quite seem to work in the same way as normal human conversation. Occasionally people will tell me of a time they heard a distinctive voice from God. It may have been a voice only they heard, but it spoke clearly to them. For most of us, hearing God speak is an inner experience, perhaps a nudge, an inner movement of the spirit, a thought or idea that recurs, that won’t let go of us. Sometimes God gives us an urge to speak with someone or moves us to take time to help someone who is struggling with life. Sometimes God speaks through a conviction that gets hold of us on an issue of justice, or a need in our world, a place where God needs us to speak or to act on God’s behalf. We may receive a call from God to do something we have never done before,...

Sunday Worship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) invites you to worship with us at 8, 9:30 or 11 am. Pastor Dave Summers preaches at all three services this Sunday and 9:30 am is extra special as we lift up the PVUMC Preschool.

Ignite at 11 am is our contemporary, bulletin-free service, and the community is gathering at the Knies' home after the service. If you're curious and want to meet some new people, check it out!

See the website calendar at pvumc.org/calendar for all our children's, youth and adult classes meeting on Sunday mornings, during the week and all year long.

Pick up a new Looking Ahead in worship or read it on the website. The Looking Ahead bulletin insert includes our weekly calendar as well as highlights of upcoming events and programs. We also include weekly prayers of intercession.

Prayer Requests
Submit prayer requests using our online request form, email prayer@pvumc.org or call the church office at 602.840.8360. Your request will be shared with our 200+ list of prayer warriors on email. RAFT Open House Invites You to be God's Love in Action to Refugees
RAFT (Refugee Assistance and Friendship Teams) invites you to an Open House on Thursday, October 25 at 6 pm, in Room H1, with Sarah Eary, the Community Integration Manager for Lutheran Social Services. Learn how you can welcome the stranger by joining RAFT and being God's love in action to refugees who are sponsored by Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. RAFT members recently gave away 10-12 bags of donated clothing to refugees living at the same apartment complex as the Congolese family RAFT co-sponsored. There are countless other ways to help, from English tutoring to cultural outings or finding a place to store donated items. Just being there and providing resources can help refugees feel less like strangers and more like friends. Read More

You are also invited to make a love gift in Pastor Andrea's honor. Donations will be accepted in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, online at GIVE NOW or in the church office.
