January 2026 Issue:
Bronco Family Newsletter
| | Welcome from the Director of the Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement | | |
Greetings Bronco Family!
There’s nothing quite like the energy of a brand-new semester at Cal Poly Pomona! As we kick things off, our team is still buzzing with excitement from welcoming our newest Broncos during December orientation—and that same momentum carries us right into the start of this semester.
A new semester brings fresh possibilities: new classes, new friendships, and new ways for students to grow, get involved, and feel connected to the Bronco community. For some families, this may be your student’s final semester; for others, they may be celebrating the end of their first year. No matter where your student is on their journey, we are here to cheer them on and celebrate every milestone along the way.
I’m thrilled to share new opportunities for families and supporters to join us on campus this spring. This newsletter highlights our biggest spring event—the Green & Gold Block Party! We encourage you to remind your student to register and invite you as their guest. We can’t wait to welcome familiar faces from orientation and meet new families who are excited to become part of our Bronco Family.
Thank you for being such an important part of your student’s success. It truly takes a village to provide the encouragement, support, and celebration that help our students thrive as they navigate their college experience.
In Community,
David Estudiante
Director, New Student Programs and Family Engagement

| | Rose Parade - Sweepstakes Award Recipients | | |
Cal Poly Pomona, in collaboration with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, entered the 2026 Rose Parade with their float, “Jungle Jumpstart,” created for the theme “The Magic in Teamwork.” The float brought a vibrant rainforest to life, featuring jungle animals—including a monkey, frog, jaguar, lemurs, and a toucan—working together to restore a towering robot.
Designed and built entirely by students, the float showcased Cal Poly’s hands-on, become-by-doing philosophy through its animated robot centerpiece, lush tropical foliage, and intricate floral details. In its 77th appearance in the Rose Parade, Jungle Jumpstart earned the Sweepstakes Award, one of the parade’s highest honors, recognizing the most beautiful and impressive overall entry.
