A Message from Dr. Hilton

Dear Bradfield Families,

How is it that the last week of school is already here? It seems like yesterday we were anxiously awaiting the new school year to make a difference in the lives of each Bronco. I am so proud of the work our teachers and staff members performed this year.

When I started the year, it was shared that the Bradfield community is special and like no other. The kindness, compassion, and encouragement that is shown from the teachers and staff, the students and the parents, it truly does not compare to any other school. I am blessed and thankful to work alongside each and every one of you.

I would like to say a special thank you to the following volunteers for making this year phenomenal!

PTA President, Rachel Reed, for her hard work, dedication, and commitment she has given to our students, teachers, and staff this year. Words are not sufficient to convey my gratitude for her support and partnership during my first year in HPISD. Rachel’s knowledge of Bradfield’s traditions and events were extraordinary as her attention to detail, planning, and communication were top notch. Additionally, her leadership and passion ensured the academic needs of our students were always put first. She is a true advocate for the Bradfield community. No one, except maybe her family, will ever know how much time she dedicated this past year. She has definitely made an amazing mark on Bradfield that will last for decades to come. Thank you, Rachel, and job well done!

Bradfield Dads Club President, Todd Fidler, for being such an advocate and supporter for the students and staff. No matter the request, Todd along with a team of Dads, were there at a moment's notice to lend a helping hand. Thank you, Todd, for having such a positive attitude as you volunteered for carpool, cafeteria, and tunnel duty. Thank you, Todd!

Communication Chair, Katie Patterson, for dedicating her late nights and weekends to ensure the Bronco Bulletin went out to keep our families in the know. Thank you, Katie, for your patience, as you waited on my message each week!

Bradfield Dads Club Carpool Chair, Rob Bennett, for organizing weekly shifts and encouraging Dads to help keep our precious gems safe. Rain or shine, each day our Dads showed up, with a smile on their faces to help carpool run safe and efficiently. Thank you, Rob and Bradfield Dads!

Bradfield PTA Exec, PTA Chairs, Bradfield Dads Club Exec, BDC Chairs and the many parents who volunteered their time and offered their support to help us make it through a memorable year! The staff and I are forever thankful we have the opportunity to be a part of the Bradfield community!

As you know, the staff loves celebrating each other especially for major mile markers. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve enjoyed celebrating years of service and awards.

I would like to celebrate the following staff members who were recognized at the District Awards Banquet.

As we begin wrapping up this last week, we want to wish the following Bradfield family members all the best of luck in their new adventures.

Leslie Kennemer, Campus Instructional Technologist, as she retires from education and starts her new adventure in Boise, Idaho. Leslie has influenced the lives of Broncos for over twenty-three years, and she will be missed. Thank you, Leslie, for being a cornerstone of our school community.

Abby Smith, Third Grade Teacher, as she continues making a difference in the lives of children at The Kinkaid School in Houston. It was a difficult decision, but her husband’s transfer to the Houston area will allow her to be closer to family. Thank you, Abby, for your dedication, love, and encouragement you have given to our Broncos.

Tara Webster, Third Grade Teacher, as she continues to be the full time caregiver to her sweet baby, Kent. Even though it was not an easy decision, she has promised to continue supporting Bradfield in a variety of ways. Thank you, Tara, for your love and dedication you have given to our Broncos!

Pattye Knight, Second Grade Teacher, as she continues her path in teaching children. Next year, she will be teaching Kindergarten at The Episcopal School of Dallas. Ms. Knight has been a Bronco for twenty years, and this decision was a difficult one. She has made an enduring impact on generations of young minds, and we are thankful for the time she spent with all of our Broncos.

Carolyn Taylor, Kindergarten Teacher, has accepted a position with Wesley Prep as a Pre-K teacher. Ms. Taylor has instilled confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning with her students, and we are grateful for her time at Bradfield. Even though this was a difficult decision, we are thankful for your time and dedication as a Bradfield Bronco.

Natalie Novak, Special Education Teacher, as she continues to be the full time caregiver to her children, Beau, Harper, and baby Hadley. This was a difficult decision, but she will still be part of our Bronco community as a parent volunteer. Thank you for your sweet disposition, dedication, and love you have given our Broncos over the years.

Brooke Lessman, Speech Therapy Teacher, as she will be the full time caregiver to her newborn son due in September. She has helped hundreds of our Broncos with their communication needs and has done so with compassion, consistency, and grace.

Hailey Benevente, Preschool Teacher Assistant, as she continues to work on her nursing degree. Hailey has spread joy wherever she was needed. Her eagerness and enthusiasm to help, learn, and teach will take her a long way in the years to come.

Thank you, ladies, for your dedication to the Bradfield community over the years. You have played an instrumental role in the lives of our Broncos and our staff. You will forever be in our hearts and your laughter and positivity will permeate through these walls for years to come!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and I will see you all tomorrow morning.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

School Experience Survey Results and Next Steps

Dear Bradfield Parents,

As we wrap up another incredible school year, I would like to take a moment to thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. It has been a privilege to work collaboratively with our amazing teachers and witness the growth, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning of all of our Broncos.

I would also like to thank our Bradfield families, students, and staff for providing feedback through the School Experience Survey earlier this semester. Our data revealed that Bradfield Elementary has many areas of strength to celebrate. Some of the highest-ranking indicators among all stakeholders were the following:

  • Teachers and staff are wonderful and genuinely care about the students.
  • Students feel safe and respected.
  • The school is clean and well-maintained.
  • Amazing and welcoming community, teachers, and staff.

Some of the areas of opportunity and growth were the following:

  • Parents and students desire more challenging work.
  • A desire for healthier food choices in the cafeteria.
  • Parents’ desire for increased communication about students’ performance.
  • Parents’ disappointed in the changes to the Science Lab and Spanish program.

Moving forward and in preparation for the next school year, Bradfield teachers and staff will continue to build and foster positive relationships with our parents and students. We understand the importance of these partnerships in order to have shared goals and high expectations for all of our students.

Additionally, Bradfield leadership will provide our teachers with targeted professional development on differentiated instruction. This will support our teachers as they provide small group instruction that will be tailored to meet individual students’ needs and provide opportunities for optimal growth.

Bradfield leadership will also provide professional development for teachers as they transition to facilitating experiments in the Science Lab. Each grade level will engage in hands-on science activities once a week in the Science Lab. Additionally, every grade level class will have one thirty-minute Spanish session each week with Senora Parker.

Bradfield teachers and staff will also increase communication with our parents beyond the beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of the year assessment data so parents are informed of their students’ progress, strengths, and opportunities for growth.

Finally, Bradfield leadership will meet with the PTA Cafeteria Committee, Director of HPISD Food Services, and Bradfield’s Cafeteria Manager to discuss possible healthier food options for the next school year.

Thank you again for your feedback and continued support as we partner to give our Broncos the best education possible.

Kindly,

Dr. Aimee Hilton

A Message from our PTA President - Elect, Kamela Aboussie

I am bursting with excitement to serve our wonderful school this upcoming year! Elementary school is a treasured time in the lives of children and parents. We are so lucky to have a staff and a school willing to partner with our families to foster growth, learning, friendships and memories during these sweet years.

I attended HPISD schools as a kindergartener at Armstrong through my senior year at HPHS. Some of my very best friends and memories are from my elementary school days, and I hope this will be true for all our little Broncos! These are special and formative years, and it’s a great honor to walk alongside Bradfield families.

We have a VERY exciting year ahead as we celebrate Bradfield’s 100th year of school! We plan to learn more about and celebrate the last century of John S. Bradfield Elementary, while also planning for and preparing our school for the next 100!

I have a tremendous amount of gratitude and respect for my dear friend Rachel Reed. She has so thoughtfully, carefully and tirelessly shepherded Bradfield as the PTA President. Rachel is handing off the job having taken great care of our school and community. She led with a steady hand and wise discernment, sincerity and dedication, while also thinking in creative and resourceful ways to expand the positive impact PTA can have on our students and staff. Rachel, yours is a job INCREDIBLY well done!

Happy summertime Broncos, and I’ll see you in August when we return for Bradfield's 100th first day of school!

Kamela Aboussie

Another big thank you goes to our 25-26 PTA Board

A Message from the Field Committee

Thank you very much to everyone who participated in last week’s survey about the potential to install a turf field at Bradfield. We received a strong response of 279 replies, with 91% of respondents supporting the turf field.

We will share the results of the survey with HPISD and work together with district staff on potential next steps.  We will keep you updated as the process progresses.

We truly appreciate all your thoughtful feedback and comments. For those who requested a follow-up, we will reach out to you this week.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support of our school!
