Jason Foss '18 - Supra Sneakers
Since his Sophomore year at BA, Jason Foss has been involved in the shoe business. While in high school, Jason wanted a nice pair of sneakers to look good in. While shopping in Chicago and other prominent shoe stores, Jason quickly realized that quality shoes are expensive. Although Jason earned money during his summer job, he needed to save the majority of it for his future college expenses. Instead of buying less cool, less expensive shoes, Jason learned how to acquire shoes cheaper: by purchasing them before they hit the aftermarket (retail stores).
After getting himself the pair he wanted, Jason decided to buy more sneakers after seeing that he could resell the shoes for more money than he purchased them for. Soon enough, Jason basically had a full time job while still in high school.
After graduating BA in 2018, Jason attended UCLA for one year, before returning to the Midwest to live in Madison. Jason is still attending UCLA, via online classes, with possible plans of finishing his chemical engineering degree at UW Madison.

The move from California to Madison turned out to have an added bonus that wasn’t anticipated: Madison had no shoe store within 50 miles. Sure, Madison has the traditional stores that sell shoes, but not a store that sells novelty sneakers. Being a large city, Jason saw real potential to open a store in Madison.
Having made enough money over the years buying and selling shoes, Jason opened Supra Sneakers in Madison this past May.
Jason appreciated the business plan project from his BA Microeconomics class as it helped him prepare for the logistics, work, and capital required for opening a business. Jason’s piece of advice for other entrepreneurs is to pursue what you are passionate about, no matter the obstacle. Although it was difficult to sometimes hear criticism from those around him while in school, Jason stuck to his passion, and now gets the satisfaction of walking into a store where everything on display is his.

The 2021 Davis Law Memorial Golf Outing was another great success. Despite being postponed by weather roughly two months ago, the Brookfield Academy community raised over $30,000 to fund scholarships for deserving BA students. 145 guests attended the silent auction and dinner on August 9, and another 116 attended the actual golf outing on October 8. Brookfield Academy is blessed to have such a strong community of volunteers, donors, and alumni who are willing to give of themselves to support a great cause. Thanks to all alumni that attended the events!
