Fencing

On December 3, the BA fencing team hosted a fencing meet. Statistics from forfeited bouts, due to incomplete teams, are not included.

Despite being outnumbered, the women’s foil team won against Catholic Memorial High School. Eleanor Plamann and Madison Kob fenced Stevenson, Marian Central Catholic, and Libertyville-Vernon Hills as well. Ellie won three bouts overall, and Madison won a total of eight.

The women’s epee team, consisting of Marina Matson, was only able to fence Libertyville-Vernon Hills and Stevenson.

The men’s foil team fenced the same schools as the women’s foil team. All three men’s foil fencers were against tough competition. Aryan Kapur won two bouts, Kai Suh won one, and Gus Jurgens also won a bout.

The BA meet was Hongyi Yang’s first outing and he fenced for the men’s epee team. He won a bout as well. His teammates, Camden Pifel and Harrison Koss, won six and five bouts respectively.

The men’s sabre team had the most participants and also fenced the same schools. Connor Artley and Ben Zou both won two bouts. Logan Pifel, Andre Pasquini, and Sohum Sharma all won one.
