Girls Basketball
On Friday, February 11, the team had a home game against St. Francis. We celebrated our senior, Jacque Dieck, as part of Senior Night. Jacque had an amazing performance, leading the team in scoring with 20 points. The girls won 55-31, with Sydnie Dehne contributing 10 points, Luci Jensen scoring nine, and Patricia Weiss and Madison York tallying five points each.

Additionally, Aya Khraisat had three points, and Isabelle Jurgens and Aureilia Rushing scored two points each. The girls play Heritage Christian at home this Wednesday, February 16, at 7:15 pm, and on the road against Lake Country Lutheran on Friday, February 18, at 6:00 pm, which is our last regular season game of the year! We hope to see you there!

Swimming
Congratulations to junior Adrian Bellido on an incredible regular season, breaking multiple school records. Adrian will swim one last time this season at Waukesha South High School in the WIAA State Championships. Adrian will compete in the 100 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle. Best of luck Adrian!
Adrian had a great Sectional meet, winning both of the events he competed in. In the process, he broke a seven-year-old pool record in the 100m fly by almost a second. Ben Lee dropped from a 1:15 to a 1:12 in his 100m free and Tyler Beckley dropped his time down to a 1:07 for his 100m free, which is a lifetime best.

This wraps up the swimming careers for Ben Lee, Tyler Beckley, and Vishnu Guda who have been members of the team since their freshman year. I really enjoyed their participation and their discipline. They are great guys, and I appreciate them not only for their work toward graduation, but also for their role in the legacy of swimming at BA. Class of 2022 will always be remembered in this program.

Going into the State meet on Friday, Adrian Bellido is seeded second in both events he is competing in. It is shaping up to be an exciting meet!

Tickets to the State meet can be purchased here.
Ski Team
On Wednesday, the co-op ski team was at Sunburst for the last race of the season, competing against Slinger, Menomonee Falls, Brookfield Central, and Homestead. This was an important race for the boys varsity team as a third place finish would guarantee qualification for the State championships.

Unfortunately, junior William Morgan, the top seed, fell on his first run, and the second seed from another school in our co-op fell on the second run. This resulted in a fifth place finish for the team overall. Senior Jacob Zaiser finished in 15th place, the best finish amongst the BA co-op team.

The girls varsity team fared better, finishing in third place. Junior Brynn Jeide finished in seventh place.

The girls JV team also finished third, and the boys JV team placed fifth. The best finisher from the JV team was senior Natalie Cartwright, who finished in a strong second place.

Even though the boys varsity team finished fifth, the team would still be able to qualify for State if the results from the other races in the conference went in their favor. Good news arrived Saturday afternoon when the final season standings were released, and the boys varsity skiers learned they had qualified!

Congratulations and best of luck to seniors Jacob Zaiser and Quinn Kaiser, junior William Morgan, and sophomore Kamron Kaiser who will be representing Brookfield Academy at the State championships February 20-21 at Mt. La Crosse in La Crosse.

Also, congratulations to William Morgan who secured four podiums during the season and was named on the All-Conference team.

Wednesday night marked the last regular season high school race for our graduating seniors: Natalie Cartwright, Anna Marshall, Jacob Zaiser, and Quinn Kaiser. Much fun was had as the seniors dressed up (or down!) for the race.

Jonah Jensen
Congratulations to senior Jonah Jensen on his recent selection to the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All Star Game this summer. Jensen received all-conference, all-region, and all-state recognition for his stellar play at QB and DB this past season. He becomes the sixth ever BA player to participate in the event.

Level 7 Boys Gold:

The Level 7 Gold team was busy last week. The Knights faced four opponents in the span of three days.

The first game in the St. Leonard’s tournament in Muskego Thursday night was against St. Dominic. BA connected on four long-range three-pointers made by Eli Wintheiser, Ethan Potthast, Keagan Michelich, and Nicholas Roth. The Blue Knights played great defense throughout the game resulting in many turnovers due in part to scrappy play by Noah Thompson and crucial steals by Michelich. Michelich had 10 points in the game. Despite outscoring the opponent in the second half, the Knights couldn’t grab the lead, ending in an eventual close defeat. The final score was 32-27.

The boys played St. Leonard in the second game of the tournament. The Knights were down for most of the game, trailing by 12 at the half. BA made a run in the second half with tough defense and key shooting. Their momentum continued into the fourth quarter, when the Blue Knights took the lead. Nicholas Roth led the team in scoring with 12 points. BA battled all afternoon and came away with a 44-35 victory, and with it, a trip to the consolation championship game on Saturday.

The final game of the St Leonard’s tournament was a double overtime loss to St. Matthews. Big baskets and great extra passes helped BA capture the lead, but the boys still couldn’t come out on top. Ethan Potthast tallied 21 points. The game was an incredible test of character. It was a tight back-and-forth game that came down to the last seconds. The boys finished as consolation runner-ups in the tournament.
The boys travelled to St. Jude Saturday morning for a league game. St. Jude's took control of the game from the beginning. The Blue Knights turned up the defense in the fourth quarter, and its shots started to fall, but the team couldn’t pull through in the end. Leading scorers Ethan Potthast and Isaaq Qureshi posted 11 and six points, respectively. The final score was 49-29.

Almost all the players found the scoring column this week. The boys are looking forward to playing in another tournament this week at St. Mary Hales Corners.

Level 8 Boys Blue:

The Level 8 boys Blue team had a busy week, playing five games in four days. After starting the week with two losses, the team rattled off three wins in a row. The team has now won seven of its last 10 games, improving its record to 11-6.

The first game of the week was a loss to St. Anthony on the Lake, a combined A and B team. Although BA was able to take the lead at different points of the game, St. Anthony on the Lake ultimately held on for a five point win.

The team then played three games on Saturday, all of which were decided by three points or less. The first game was a league game against St. Mary Elm Grove at home. After getting down by double digits in the first half, BA held St. Mary to six second half points, and forced overtime. In overtime, BA fell just short, losing 38-37.

The second game was against St. Gabriel. Again, the team got down big early, but fought all the way back to win by three points.

The final game on Saturday was a tournament game against Lumen Christi. In an intense atmosphere, BA found itself down one point with 22 seconds remaining. With an inbound play under the hoop, Ammar Pasha passed the ball to Daniel Cha, who managed to gain good position on his defender. Daniel made the layup to go up one point. BA then got the defensive stop on the other end and won the game 31-30.

The next day was the best team performance of the season. The Blue Knights defeated St. Francis Borgia 33-22. All nine players gave great effort and contributed to the double digit win.

The team plays against undefeated St. Vincent Pallotti this Saturday at Wauwatosa Catholic.

Level 8 Boys Gold:

The Gold team was able to have a successful redemption week as it faced Messmer on the road for a second time this season. The first matchup resulted in a nailbiting, two-point loss, but this time the team came out strong with aggressive defense and jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead. The team kept up the pressure and went on to win 44-19.

Eight of the nine players scored, highlighted by Eli Rigel nailing a three-pointer that put the exclamation point on the victory. The team continued to get steady output from Garrett Priebe, Eddie Schoyer, and Raghav Vijayapal. All three scored about 10 points each.

Tyler Fletcher and Danny Weiner provided outstanding defensive effort as Tyler Weiss continued his aggressive play on the boards. The team is excited as the season is coming down to the final weeks and are hoping for an invitation to the season ending Padre Serra tournament.
