Swim Team

The BA swim team met and exceeded the goals set out at the start of the swim season back in November.

Led by senior Adrian Bellido, the team raced themselves into 10th place at the Division 2 Wisconsin State Championships this past Friday in Waukesha.

The meet started with the medley relay team of Niall Parkins, Adrian Bellido, Rishi Guntur, and Andrew Li. The relay team won the first heat and finished in a time of 1:41.86 seconds.

This swim obliterated the school record set six days prior at the sectional meet in Plymouth. It was also good for an 8th place finish in the event. This was a monumental accomplishment and was an exciting start to the meet.

In the 50 freestyle, Adrian Bellido raced to his first 2023 State Championship victory with a time of 20.81 seconds. He eclipsed his State Championship time from last year and broke the school record.

A raucous BA crowd of parents, students, teachers, and administrators cheered as Adrian took the podium to accept his first place medal.

After a break, Adrian was back at it in the 100 butterfly. Adrian scorched the field and broke his own state record. His time of 49.06 lit up the crowd again and set the stage for the next performances.

Continuing, the 200 freestyle relay consisting of the same team members took to the pool and lowered the school record in this event to a 1:31.43. This time was only 0.14 of a second from a podium place. Most notably, BA was competing right there with the top swim programs in the State. It was a terrific result.

Lastly, Niall Parkins swam back-to-back from the relay to his individual 100 backstroke race. Niall swam to a personal best time of 57.55 in the event. He showcased his talents and was one of only three freshmen to qualify for the State meet in the 100 backstroke. The future is bright for Niall.

To recap, this meet was a reflection of the entire season. There are no shortcuts in this sport. The team worked hard, training early mornings in the pool to achieve this result. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of the parents, and a special thank you to Coach Kahle and Mrs. Dehne, who supported us and met our every need with what was asked for.

The future is bright and although we will graduate three seniors who were our captains, we have an emerging new crop of swimmers who will carry on and continue to showcase our school in this sport.

Girls Varsity Basketball

Senior night was a success as the two seniors were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the team over the past years.

Seniors Sydnie Dehne and Aya Khraisat were celebrated before the game by coaches, teammates, and fans. Both Sydnie and Aya's parents walked through the player tunnel with them as they received their praise.

Coach Teri Stamps sang a phenomenal national anthem.

The game itself went well as the girls won 85-34. Both seniors scored for the team!

The team finished off its regular season with a 88-29 victory over Kenosha Christian Life. Eight girls scored for the Blue Knights. Amelia Rigel scored 31 to lead the way, with Luci Jensen scoring 26.

The girls are the #5 seed in the WIAA Regional Playoffs and will play Milwaukee North on Friday, February 24, at 7 pm.

Boys Varsity Basketball

BA's boys team won two games this past week, defeating St. John's Northwestern Academies and Kingdom Prep.

Against St. John's, 12 different players scored for the Blue Knights. Anthony Przybilla recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and acquiring 10 rebounds. Davis Arvold led the team in scoring with 21 points.

The Blue Knights beat Kingdom Prep 59-43 in a low scoring game. BA played solid defense, while Anthony Przybilla and Nolan Demski took charge on the offensive end.

Tonight's Senior Night game against St. Francis has been postponed due to weather and will be played on Friday.

On Saturday, BA will take on Lake Country Lutheran. This highly anticipated matchup could determine who wins the Midwest Classic Conference.

BA received the #3 seed in its WIAA Regional Playoff Bracket. The Blue Knights will take on the winner of #6 Brown Deer and #11 Obama SCTE in the regional semifinal. The game will be played at Brookfield Academy on Friday, March 3, at 7 pm.

UBLT Ski Team

Saturday through Monday, the UBLT (ULS/BA/LCL/Trinity) co-op ski team was at the State Championship at Mt. La Crosse. Both the boys and girls teams qualified for State this year, and BA was represented by seniors William Morgan, Brynn Jeide, and Cosette Holley, junior Kamron Kaiser, freshman Marilee Nygro, and freshman Meghan Jeide as the girls team alternate. Each skier raced one run of Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super G over the two days.

The meet started well for the boys. After a strong Slalom race from top seed William Morgan, the boys team was in third place which was maintained after the Giant Slalom race. Unfortunately, the Super G did not go well, and the boys team finished fifth overall. This was still good enough to medal, and the team outscored larger high schools that were ahead of them in the regular season standings. Additionally, William Morgan's Slalom result allowed him to be named to the All-State 2nd Team, and William could still qualify for the Eastern Championships in New Hampshire this March.

For the girls team, an eighth place in Slalom improved the team to sixth place overall; however the team finished in seventh place after all races were completed. Senior Brynn Jeide led the BA athletes, finishing 71st overall, placing highest on the whole team in the Slalom race.

The State Championships marked the end of another successful ski season. Thank you to the coaches and parent volunteers for making it so much fun, and good luck to seniors William Morgan, Brynn Jeide, and Cossette Holley who have raced with the ski team since freshman year.
