Swimming
The BA boys swim team returned to competition on Tuesday, December 28, at the Metro Officials Invitational. The team performed well.

Headlining the meet was junior Adrian Bellido, who won the 50M freestyle in 21.38 seconds, just 8/100ths of a second from breaking the school record!

Adrian also got second place in the 100M butterfly, barely getting out-touched at the wall for a second event win at the meet. Rishi Guntur had a strong meet with swims in the 100M and 200M backstrokes. He continues to improve the more he swims.

Tyler Beckley cracked 30 seconds in the 50M freestyle for the first time and also had a season best in the 100M breaststroke. Vishnu Guda tallied season bests in both the 50M and 100M freestyles.

The meet wrapped up with the 200M freestyle relay that finished in 1:50.08. I was very pleased with the individual and relay performances from the team.

The swim team returns to action Saturday, January 8, at the Marquette Invitational, which will take place at the Schroeder Aquatic Center.

Boys Co-op Hockey
Over the holiday break, the Brookfield Stars hockey co-op team participated in the Rocket Red Nose Classic hosted by the Neenah/Hortonville/Menasha co-op team. The varsity squad suffered a first round loss to Bayport, but rallied in the next game with a shutout victory over Cedarberg to capture the consolation championship. The JV Stars defeated Bayport in the first round and then beat the host team to capture the JV championship!

Both varsity and JV are in action on home ice this weekend at the Ponds of Brookfield. Both teams face Waukesha on Friday, January 7, with varsity facing off at 6:10 pm and JV at 8:10 pm. Saturday, the teams will host Sheboygan. Varsity puck drop is set for 6:40 pm, while JV is set to start at 8:50 pm.

BA students receive free admittance to all home games with their student ID. Come cheer on your hockey co-op!
Climb Team
The Brookfield Academy climb team competed in a WHSCL competition on Friday, December 17, and finished second among 20 teams. Individuals placing in the top five of their division were: Kate Bullio and Lily Childress in Division 1, Shariq Ahmad, Emma Canga, and Grant Erlinder in Division 3, and Jacob Reiner in Division 4. Shariq and Emma each won the Division 3 finals climb-off to claim first place in that division for their respective gender.
The climb team's next competition is on Friday, January 7. The BA Upper School climb team practices each Monday after school at Adventure Rock Brookfield. The club continually accepts new participants on a long-term and short-term basis so students can join or withdraw at any time. Interested students should talk to a climbing classmate or contact Mr. Reiner.
