Girls Varsity Basketball

The varsity girls basketball team reached the regional final by defeating Milwaukee North by a score of 89-28. It was a balanced attack from the Blue Knights. Amelia Rigel scored 23 points, followed by Luci Jensen with 18 points. Madison Leschig scored 15 points, Madison York 13 points, Sydnie Dehne 12 points, Rachel Simmons four points, Patricia Weiss two points, and Faith Landowski two points.

The following day, the girls traveled to Dominican to take on the #1 seed. It was a great battle and BA was able to hang around the entire game. Trailing by just four points at the half, it was anyone's game with 18 minutes to play. Dominican went on a scoring run in the middle of the second half that proved too much to overcome.

Luci Jensen scored 15 points, Sydnie Dehne 12 points, Amelia Rigel six points, Madison York two points, Aya Khraisat two points, and Patricia Weiss one point.

Boys Varsity Basketball

The boys varsity basketball team celebrated Senior Night on Friday against St. Francis.

Seniors Maliq Crawford, Alex Dieck, Jon Sabani, Aaron Strange, and manager Brynn Jeide were all honored before the game.

BA was able to defeat St. Francis 78-72. Davis Arvold led the team in scoring with 18 points. Anthony Przybilla followed with 14 points, Trenton Rayborn and Nolan Demski with 13 points, and Maliq Crawford with 10 points to round out BA's double digit scorers.

On Saturday, BA had an away game against Lake Country Lutheran. This highly anticipated matchup determined if BA would win the outright Midwest Classic Conference title or share the title with LCL. Unfortunately, BA had to settle for a share of the conference title due to a 86-83 loss. Nevertheless, it was an outstanding regular season for Brookfield Academy, finishing with a 13-1 Midwest Classic Conference record.

BA received the #3 seed in its WIAA Regional Playoff Bracket. The Blue Knights will take on #6 Brown Deer in the regional semifinal. The game will be played at Brookfield Academy on Friday, March 3, at 7 pm.

BA Player to play in Football All Star Game

Senior Colton Green will represent Brookfield Academy at the 2023 WFCA All Star Football Game. Colton will play for the small schools south team. The game will be played at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh on Saturday, July 15. Colton caught 66 passes for 732 receiving yards and eight touchdowns this past season.

Middle School Basketball

Level 8 Girls

The Level 8 girls finished their season by losing a pair of games to the 1st and 2nd place teams in the division. In the first game of the day, the girls dropped a 30-13 decision to Messmer. In the second game of the day, the girls lost a heartbreaker to St. Jude's after leading most of the game. The girls begin preparation for the Padre Serra tournament in the coming weeks.

BA will play St. John the Baptist in the opening round. The game will be played at St. Thomas More High School on Saturday, March 11, at 2:15 pm.

Level 6 Girls

The Level 6 girls team wrapped up its season with a hard fought loss to St. Dominic by a score of 17-16. The team finishes the year with a 6-4 record in league play and 8-5 overall record. 

Toughness and teamwork were the staples of the team each week - embracing each challenge to improve as a group. Lucy Allen and Rachel York led the team's offensive production throughout the year, averaging a combined 21 points per game, along with a collective effort on the defensive side of the ball to create turnovers and challenge every possession. A great season by this group of girls!

Level 8 Boys

The Level 8 Gold team played five games over the weekend, going 3-2. The first game was a tournament game against St. Alphonsus. BA was able to come away victorious 33-15.

Next up was the final game of the trilogy against St. Dominic. The season series was tied 1-1 heading into this game. BA could not get shots to fall; and while playing fine defensively, the team could not put enough points on the board to stay close. St. Dominic went on to win the game.

In the game against Blessed Savior, the boys put together a solid second half, which was good enough to win 46-33. This win concluded league play for the team. BA finished with a 8-5 league record, good for a 7th place finish out of 14 teams! That is a great accomplishment with how difficult the competition is.

On Monday, BA defeated Christ King 41-35. The first quarter was the difference in the game, as BA jumped out to a 17-2 lead. The team had great intensity. Christ King made a strong push in the second half, but BA was able to hold on to win.

Against Waukesha Catholic, the combination of BA not getting shots to fall and a 8/14 performance from three by Waukesha Catholic proved costly. BA lost the game, but fought until the end.

The boys finish the regular season with a 16-10 record.

All that's left for the boys is the season-end Padre Serra Tournament coming up in the next few weeks. BA will play St. Robert (Shorewood) in the first round. The game will be played at St. Thomas More High School on Saturday, March 11, at noon.

Level 6 Boys

The Level 6 boys Blue team traveled to St. Joe's in Waukesha on Saturday. While the boys were not victorious, they did finish the season on a positive note. The boys battled St. Joe's in a back-and-forth affair before succumbing by one. The final score was 31-30. The boys finished the season with a 6-6 record in conference and a 7-7 overall record.
