Girls Soccer

The girls had another busy week on the soccer field which resulted in three victories. Last Monday night, the team traveled to Kewaskum to play a very good and physical Kewaskum team. In a very close game, midfielder Shivi Shah intercepted the ball, which found the feet of forward Johanna Zaleski, who poked it in to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Just 20 seconds into the second half, forward Patricia Weiss extended the lead to 2-0 on an assist from Johanna. Not long after that, Patricia scored again to extend the lead and give the Blue Knights some breathing room. Kewaskum was able to score a pair of late goals, but BA held on for 3-2 victory.

On Wednesday, the girls traveled to Living Word Lutheran for a conference game. Finding themselves down a goal 25 minutes into the game, the girls rallied to take a 3-1 halftime lead. BA continued to find its stride and ended up with a 8-1 victory. Kate Bullio recorded her first goal of the season and Patricia Weiss had four assists. Claire Tracy finished with three goals and three assists, while Johanna Zaleski recorded a hat trick. The defensive line clamped down and goalkeeper Sydnie Dehne didn't allow another goal.

The following day, the Blue Knights had a rematch with Waukesha South. In the first half, Patricia Weiss found Johanna Zaleski, who ripped a shot in the side of the net to take a 1-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Madison York found Johanna again to increase the lead to 2-0. With the back line of Olivia Smith, both Jeide sisters, and Laurette Blanchard keeping Waukesha South's attack at bay, Patricia found midfielder Shivi Shah in front of the goal to secure the 3-0 win. Goalkeeper Sydnie Dehne recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

Baseball

The Blue Knights continued their recent hot streak winning five of their last six games. After an 8-2 loss to Cudahy on Monday, BA grabbed an early lead yesterday on its way to an 8-1 victory over St. John's Northwestern Military Academy. BA took the lead on a fielder's choice in the second inning.

Brookfield Academy scored four runs in the fifth inning. The runs came from a fielder's choice by Davis Arvold, an error on a ball put in play by Alex Dieck, and a double by Garrett Priebe.

Brady Gomilla earned the win on the mound. The righthander surrendered one run on four hits over four and a third innings, striking out four. Tate Grossman and Connor Nicholson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Soccer

On Tuesday, May 9, the MS girls soccer team hosted St. Augustine Prep. The first half was a slow start for the usually explosive BA team, as the girls scored just three times on 34 opportunities. However, the girls did not lose their defensive edge and did not allow St. Augustine Prep to score during the same half. The girls made some adjustments in the second half, playing the ball back more frequently and changing the point of attack. The change boosted the girls, helping them to score seven times in the first 25 minutes of the second half, leading to a 10-0 score with 10 minutes left in the game. The game was called due to the clemency rule.
