Softball

Brookfield Academy/ULS fell to Johnson Creek 7-6 last week in the final play of the game. Despite the loss, the Blue Knights did collect nine hits. Christina Burghardt scored one run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly.

The team tallied three runs in the third with big bats from Ella Thompson and Aureilia Rushing, both driving in runs. Julia Van Bogart toed the rubber for the Knights. Defense was strong for the team, including an incredible double play from shortstop Christina to first baseman Ella, leaving the score tied in the bottom of the sixth inning. Both Johanna Zaleski and Chloe Fritz each caught three fly balls in the outfield.

BA/ULS played a Regional playoff game at Watertown Luther Prep on Tuesday. The Blue Knights stayed in it until the end, but the Phoenix pulled away late in the game to win 12-8. Johanna Zaleski had an RBI in the top of the third inning and also scored on a stolen base and a passed ball. In the same inning, Van Bogart scored on a hit by Naomi Grande. BA/ULS trailed 6-3 when Ella had a big hit down the right field line, scoring three runs to tie the game. Christina Burghardt and Aureilia Rushing each collected multiple hits for the team, but it wasn't enough to steal the lead.

The outfield was solid throughout the game with seven fly ball outs by Johanna (4), Chloe (2) and Elsa Schneider (1). After finishing off a stellar season, the team is looking forward to next year. A big thank you to all the parents and families who traveled and cheered for the team! Thank you for all the support and congrats to the seniors!
