Girls Soccer

The girls played three games this past week. In the first home game of the year, the girls hosted Wisconsin Lutheran. BA started fast and had a 4-1 lead at the break with two goals by Johanna Zaleski, and two by Patricia Weiss. With BA moving into the wind offensively in the second half, the game got a little closer. Fortunately, the Blue Knights finished with a 5-3 victory, with the final goal coming from Claire Tracy.

On Wednesday, the girls traveled to USM for the first conference game of the season. Johanna Zaleski started off the game with an unassisted goal 30 seconds into the game. That set the tone for five more first half goals, four by Claire Tracy, and one more by Johanna. Sydnie Dehne earned another clean sheet, with the help of the back defensive line who kept opponents chances to a minimum. Claire and Johanna added one more goal each to finish off the game with a 8-0 win. Patricia Weiss marked USM's best player, keeping her from scoring and also finished with two assists in the game.

In the third game of the week, the Blue Knights traveled to regional foe Kenosha St. Joseph. Johanna Zaleski scored two early first half goals on assists from Claire Tracy. While the game was still pretty tight, Claire scored a backbreaking goal with less than one minute left in the first half to give the girls a 3-0 lead at the break. Sydnie Dehne kept command in goal to keep Kenosha off the scoreboard. The back line of Olivia Smith, Laurette Blanchard, Meghan Jeide, and Shivi Shah frustrated St. Joseph's attack in a very physical battle. Midfielders Madison York and Patricia Weiss also had outstanding games, with Patricia assisting Johanna on a goal.

The team finished the week with a back and forth game in Racine against St. Catherine. The game was tied going into the fourth inning. Bats blistered as BA/ULS collected 23 hits in the high scoring game. Five hits in five at bats, with seven RBIs from Ella Thompson helped lead BA/ULS past St. Cat’s 21-13. The Blue Knights put up seven runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to Julia, Elsa, Naomi, Ella, and Chloe Fritz all bringing in runs.

Tennis

The BA Middle School tennis team added to their win column last week, winning 7-3 vs Longfellow, and 7-1 over St. John Vianney. Competition was fierce as wind and cold temperatures provided additional challenges on both days.

Talent and determination from both singles and doubles players were on display, and carried the team to two victories in front of an enthusiastic crowd! The team is ready for this weeks challenges and looking forward to their continued success!
