Girls Varsity Tennis

A Brookfield Academy girls doubles team has never made the WIAA podium at the State tournament, until now. The top six finishers at the State tournament earn the right to step on the podium. Seniors Lexi Kass and Laurette Blanchard finished fifth this past weekend, making BA history. After a tough loss in the quarterfinals, the pair rebounded to defeat Edgerton to secure their spot on the podium. Then in the 5th/6th place match, the senior duo defeated Big Foot to finish in fifth place. Congratulations on the achievement.

The doubles team of Simran Bhatia and Riya Singh defeated Sheboygan Falls in the first round, before losing in the second round. Sophomore Ashna Dagam lost to the #7 seed in the tournament, but gained experience by playing in the State tournament, which should help her in future years.

Thanks to all for making it a great season!

Cross Country

This past weekend, the boys and girls cross country teams competed in their conference meet at Lake Country Lutheran High School. Both teams came away victorious, sweeping the competition and earning a conference championship! On the girls side, they dominated the competition and were way ahead of the second place team. BA had four runners earning All-Conference honors, including Rose Erlinder, Luci Jensen, Claire Tracy, and Leora Schmidt. Newcomer Jillian Jones just missed that mark, but had a huge race to round out our top five.

It was much tighter for the boys, but they pulled off the win by four points! BA had three runners earn All-Conference: Kamron Kaiser, Matthew Casas, and Danny Reiner. Rounding out the top five with great races were Jack Rogutich and William Morgan.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The boys soccer team had a tie and two wins in their three recent games.

At Kenosha St. Joseph's, BA found themselves down 2-0 at halftime. After making a couple of changes, the boys were determined to get themselves back in the game. BA was able to net three second-half goals, scored by Rigoberto Castro-Lopez, Thomas Minix, and Carlos Castro-Lopez. The game ended 3-3. Ethan Grande shored up the defensive line by moving to centerback the second half, and goalkeeper Jacob Schneck continued to come up with outstanding saves.

Two days later, the boys traveled again to Kenosha to play Christian Life. BA started quickly with the scoring and continued through the second half to end the game early with a score of 11-0. Three hat tricks were tallied by the Blue Knights. Scoring a hat trick were Ethan Grande, Benny Keppler, and Davis Arvold. Midfielder Kamron Kaiser led in assists with three.

Ten minutes later, Arvold found the back of the net again to give the boys a 3-0 lead. With five minutes left in the half, Lakeside Lutheran managed to score and gain some momentum with their talented team.

Sweeper back Xabier Bisabarros-Hudoc, and back line teammates Ethan Grande, Camden Pifel, and Tyler Riederer, the Blue Knights managed to keep their opponents scoreless for the second half. Goalkeeper Jacob Schneck closed the door for Lakeside Lutheran to form a chance of a comeback. The game was sealed on a head ball goal by Kamron Kaiser from a perfect cross by Davis Arvold to finish the game 4-1.

With a challenging schedule, and a record of 5-5-5, the Blue Knights were able to earn a home game in the first round of the playoffs. BA will host Racine Lutheran this Thursday night at 7 pm. Come out and cheer on the team to victory! Your attendance has been appreciated and noticed all season.

JV Volleyball

JV1

Just before Fall Break, the JV1 team played in its conference tournament at USM. The girls finished second in conference.

The team started off strong, going 1-1 against Kenosha Christian Life School and Heritage Christian. The Blue Knights then faced Living Word Lutheran and won both sets. After a short break, play resumed, and BA defeated the USM Wildcats 21-13 and 21-12. The Blue Knights were nearly unstoppable, but then faced the St. Francis Mariners. After winning the first game 21-1, they had a tough time in the final set and lost 21-18, splitting the games.

Finally, for the last game of the night, the ladies played undefeated Lake Country Lutheran. The girls competed hard and represented BA well, winning the first set, stealing away LCL’s perfect record. Solyana Tatek and Ella Thompson led the defense in blocks during this game, sealing the team’s victory. Although BA lost the second set, the girls played amazingly during the long night of games. Ella Lombardi had 19 serving aces, while Kai Peterson added 18 more aces for the night. Kai also had 33 assists.

Great communication by freshman libero, Shivani Shah, and solid court coverage by Harbani Kaur, Kjerstin Christensen, and Sarah Cobb contributed to the team effort. Isabella Ruddock had 18 assists leading to 26 and 23 kills by Aureilia Rushing and Ella Lombardi respectively.

The team finished the season strong, solidifying second place in the Midwest Classic Conference. The team had excellent effort and great attitudes throughout the season. Congrats JV Volleyball!

The Level 5/6 JR Knights award winners!

JR Knights

Level 7/8

It was an exciting Thursday night, as the JR Knights hosted Lake Country Lutheran. The first half was a defensive battle, with each team punting the ball back and forth the majority of the half.

The JR Knights were able to run the ball behind a strong offensive line. Running back Samarth Singh punished the LCL defense for six yards per carry, but penalties and turnovers kept LCL in the game. LCL scored right before half to go up 6-0, but BA came back and scored in the third quarter to tie it up. BA was putting together a drive in the fourth quarter, when LCL intercepted the ball and ran it in for a touchdown to win the game.

Level 5/6

Please join me in congratulating the JR Knights on an epic performance under the lights last Thursday night! The Knights played against one of their biggest rivals, Lake Country Lutheran. LCL came out on fire, and BA found themselves in a 13-0 hole early in the game. However, the JR Knights continued to fight hard to make it an exceptional game with Zaiden Johnson and Kirtan Pansheriya putting points on the board!

The battle was intense and very cold on that chilly evening. The Knights came up short in a 20-13 loss. However, with numb hands and chattering teeth, they showed tremendous heart and courage battling vigorously to the very end! We are all very proud of the entire team and their effort. Go Knights!
