On Thursday afternoon, the boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Arrowhead Invitational and had a record day! There were many amazing performances as almost every runner recorded a season best time, as well as a few lifetime bests!
The girls were paced by Rose Erlinder, who finished 24th and earned a medal. Her success was followed up by Luci Jensen, Leora Schmidt, Avery Denman, and then Jillian Jones rounding out the Blue Knights top five finishers.
On the boys side, Matthew Casas led the way, finishing in 6th place and earning a medal. Following him and scoring for the boys were Danny Reiner, Davis Arvold, Jack Rogutich, and Joshua Schwartz.

BA also had a freshman boys team compete, and they were led by the pair of Danny Weiner and Ben Reiner.

Volleyball hosted Middle School night last week Thursday during the varsity conference match against Messmer.
The Middle School athletes were treated to a pizza dinner before the match. During the game, the MS girls received stickers from the team and participated in a serving contest. Winners received water bottles and everyone had lots of good laughs and smiles!

Varsity went on to win the match 25-7, 25-12, 25-5. Varsity's conference record is now 2-2.

The #10 ranked BA girls varsity tennis team competed in the Kohler Invitational this past week. Playing against #2 ranked Catholic Memorial, and defending State Champions, BA lost a close one, four matches to three.
The wins came from all three doubles teams. Seniors Lexi Kass and Laurette Blanchard, BA's #1 doubles team, defeated the Crusaders #1 doubles team in a third set tiebreaker. The BA duo got down early, but fought back to almost even the first set up at 5-5. Instead, Catholic Memorial was able to hang on and win the opening set 6-4. Lexi and Laurette regrouped at the set break, and came out determined for a better result. The BA pair rolled in the second set, winning 6-0. In the deciding 10-point tiebreaker (first to 10 points win by two) Lexi and Laurette found themselves down five points to two. The senior team kept battling and fought back to win 10-7.
At #2 doubles, seniors Simran Bhatia and Riya Singh went about their business winning 6-4, 6-1. Both Simran and Riya played some of their best tennis of the season in the second set.
#3 doubles was the match to watch. After losing the first set 6-0, junior Madison York and freshman Kate Allen knew they had to change their style of play to turn the match around. Both new to varsity this year, the two rallied together to save seven Catholic Memorial match points. Madison and Kate went on to win 0-6, 7-6 (6), 11-9.

On Saturday, the team defeated Kohler four matches to three. Riya Singh moved over to play #2 singles and won in straight sets. Freshman Claire Tian won easily at #4 singles, while freshman Marilee Nygro secured her first win of the season at #3 doubles, pairing up with fellow freshman Audrey Quernemoen. The freshmen duo were playing amazing tennis and were rewarded with a 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 victory.
The #1 doubles team of seniors Lexi Kass and Laurette Blanchard defeated Kohler's #1 doubles team 6-2, 6-0 to secure the win for BA.
In a rematch against Regis, the result repeated itself from when the two teams played each other in August. BA was able to sweep doubles, while Regis won all the singles matches.
Lexi and Laurette won 6-1, 6-4 at #1 doubles. Madison York and Kate Allen won 6-4, 6-2 at #2 doubles, while Patricia Weiss and Kaelin Bayerlein won 6-1, 6-1 at #3 doubles.

Last Wednesday, the BA boys varsity team played at St. John's. After falling behind 2-0 early, the boys managed to tie up the game 2-2 before the half. The first BA goal came off a free kick from Ethan Grande, which was headed in by Kamron Kaiser. Shortly after, forward Benny Keppler knocked the ball free from the goalkeeper and Davis Arvold found the back of the net from 20 yards out.
After conceding a second half goal, the boys created several scoring opportunities, but could not tie it up and resulted in a 3-2 loss. Goalkeeper Jacob Schneck played one of his best games.

On Saturday, the boys played at St. Augustine Prep. After trailing 1-1, Davis Arvold threw in the ball on a quick restart to find Ethan Grande in the box and placed it in the back of the net to tie the game. In a well-played match by both teams, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. It was a great team effort, with outstanding play by senior midfielders Carlos Castro-Lopez, Ethan Grande, and Thomas Minix.
The team plays at Pewaukee on Monday, September 19, before returning home on Wednesday, September 21, for a game against Lake Country Lutheran.

The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights varsity team traveled to Pritchard Park in Racine to battle Racine Lutheran on Friday, September 9. BA was plagued by many miscues and could not capitalize on third down on both sides of the ball. Senior Alex Dieck led BA's defense with eight tackles and Tate Grossman added an interception. BA lost 35-0.
The BA JV football team hosted its first conference game on Monday, September 12, against Racine Lutheran at the BA Fields of Freedom. The team played with energy, discipline, and toughness throughout the course of the game. BA defeated Racine Lutheran 16-6.
On offense, Max Loomis scored a rushing touchdown and Garrett Priebe caught a long touchdown pass from Andrew Schmidt. Freshman Beau Libbey and sophomore Rolando Rodriguez added two point conversions. Jesse Mayorga, in his first ever football game, played center and consistently snapped the ball well to the quarterback.
BA's defense played assignment football and had several tackles for a loss. Freshmen Beau Libbey, Mason Dorn, and Gus Jurgens recorded several tackles. Freshman Tyler Fletcher also had a nice interception on a deep pass.
The Brookfield Academy varsity team looks to get back on track this Friday at the Fields of Freedom against Burlington Catholic Central at 7 pm.

The JV volleyball team hosted Messmer this week. The girls dominated their opposition from start to finish, defeating the Bishops 3-0 (25-1, 25-4, 15-12).
Collectively, the Blue Knights had a solid offensive performance. Harbani Kaur was aggressive on the scoreboard with 18 aces. Kai Peterson tallied three assists and two kills in the matches. Shivani Shah was strong on defense with three digs. All the girls showed great skill on the court.

The team is off to a great start this season. The team will travel to Living Word Lutheran on Thursday, September 15.

Level 5/6
The Level 5/6 girls volleyball team played a doubleheader at St. Sebastian. The Blue Knights faced off against St. Sebastian and St. John Vianney. BA was able to win the third set, which goes to 15 points, against St. Sebastian. The team is working hard and I look forward to the next match!

It was a great start to the season for the Level 7 girls volleyball team, winning against Christ King.
Everything we have been working on in practice was evident in the match. Kailey Klemm had some great plays at the net, and Gracie Mila served great. There are 13 players on the roster, and everyone contributed to the win.

Level 8
The Level 8 volleyball team got the season off to a little bit of a rough start, losing all three games to St. Dominic's.

Working on fundamentals and communication this week should help the team be more prepared for a doubleheader next weekend at St. Francis Cabrini. This team of 14 girls is made up of a good group of hard workers, so we should see great improvement from them in the near future.

Level 7/8
Level 7/8 JR Knights had its season debut at Nicolet on Saturday.
The Nicolet Knights jumped out to an early lead. Noah Thompson saved the JR Knights with a fumble recovery in the first quarter that led to excellent field position. The JR Knights defense was led in the middle by Nicholas Roth and Jack Buckley.
It was a back and forth battle between the two Knights teams. BA’s offense started the second half with a touchdown pass by quarterback Drake Bolan. Unfortunately, BA came up short in the end, losing by a final score of 14-6.
Up next, the JR Knights travel to Kettle Moraine Lutheran this Saturday.

Level 5/6
The Level 5/6 JR Knights started the season at Nicolet against a tough opponent. The JR Knights defense held strong with a few sacks and an interception during the game.
The offense was on fire with an early touchdown by Zaiden Johnson. Zaiden also had two passing touchdowns to Charlie York. The boys worked hard with a small roster.
Unfortunately, the younger JR Knights team fell short with a loss to Nicolet 27-18.

MS cross country completed its pre-season training this past week. It concluded with another timed mile.
Congratulations to Maeve Parkins and Olivia Schmidt, our newest members of the 7:00 mile club. Congratulations also to Elisabeth Wilson, Celia Muller, and Mila Libbey for setting new career personal records (PRs). Our big improvers this week are Adharsh Aavan and Sophia Keppler for knocking 30 seconds or more off of their previous times.
The MS cross country team has its first two competitions this week with a meet in Cedarburg on September 14, and the BA Blue Knight Invitational (on the BA Fields of Freedom) on September 16.

Level 5/6
The Level 5/6 boys soccer team suffered a tough defeat at the hands of Kenosha Christian Life last Thursday. The final score of 7-0 could have been much worse as the vast majority of the game was played on the BA defensive half. The BA team refused to back down against the much older and bigger KCL team. The midfield of William Klein, Andi Kadriu, Caetano Raab Rabida, and Sohil Bucaro played well and were able to get a handful of nice passing combinations, but unfortunately nothing was able to develop into much of a sustained attack. There were a number of hard-nosed individual performances, particularly from Avi Chopra and Level 5 student-athletes Connor Nack and Nishant Gollagunta. All three refused to back down from 50-50 challenges on the ball.

Level 7/8
The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights went into the game last Thursday coming off a tough loss to St. Augustine Prep on August 30. BA led most of the game against Prep, before conceding two goals in the final 12 minutes that resulted in a 2-1 loss.
Not only did the boys bounce back, but they came out with physicality and aggression that helped lead them to a 5-0 shutout win against The Prairie School. The win snapped a nine-year losing streak to Prairie.
BA played a near perfect game behind Keagan Michelich in goal and Jayden Przybilla, along with Hudson Zeiler at center back shutting down every attack The Prairie School attempted. The midfield duo of Patrick Mahoney and Rehaan Muqeet controlled the middle of the field, while providing support to the forwards and allowing the offense to keep the pressure on Prairie all game.

Isaaq Qureshi scored two goals and had an assist to his younger brother Zayne for a third goal. Ryker Koch and Lucas Babovic were the other two goal scorers, capping off another outstanding performance by the forwards. The Blue Knights improved their record to 2-1.
