Last week, the varsity volleyball team had a tough week in conference play, losing to Heritage Christian and Living Word Lutheran.
Over the weekend, the girls attended the Tosa West Invite, finishing second in the Silver bracket, and fifth out of 12 teams overall. The team played an amazing match against Port Washington, losing 27-25, 25-18. The team then went on to defeat Cudahy in three sets 27-25, 25-19, 15-7. In the crossover match, the team beat Racine Horlick 25-13, 25-9, but fell short to South Milwaukee 25-16, 25-19.

The team's overall record is 7-6,
while the conference record sits at 2-2.

The boys soccer team had one game last week, taking on Cristo Rey Jesuit, currently ranked third in the state.
After having a few great scoring opportunities by forwards Davis Arvold and Benny Keppler, the boys couldn't manage to knock one in.
Cristo Rey scored 25 minutes into the game and held a 3-0 halftime lead. While the BA boys played their hearts out in the second half, the game ended 6-0. Jacob Schneck made several outstanding saves, while all of the midfielders played very well. Thomas Minix took over duties at the sweeper spot for the first time and did an outstanding job playing and communicating.

The BA girls tennis team remains at #10 in the D2 rankings entering the second to last week of the regular season. On Saturday, the Blue Knights took on two Division 1 opponents: Muskego and Brookfield East.
BA got the day started on a good note, defeating Muskego 6-1. Singles wins came from Ashna Dagam, Claire Tian, and Marilee Nygro. The doubles teams swept the competition, winning all three matches. Laurette Blanchard and Simran Bhatia won at #1 doubles. Riya Singh and Ayushi Chandel were victorious at #2 doubles, while Madison York and Audrey Quernemoen won in straight sets at #3 doubles.

Against Brookfield East, the team fought hard but fell short, losing 5-2. The two wins came from Anika Taneja at #4 singles and Simran Bhatia/Riya Singh at #2 doubles.
The girls take on Menomonee Falls this evening before playing three home matches on the brand new courts next week!

It's homecoming week at Brookfield Academy! On Friday, September 23, at 7 pm, BA will host Kenosha Christian Life. From the pregame festivities, to the halftime fireworks, to the play on the field, Friday night is expected to be a blast.

The girls battled Heritage Christian on Tuesday, September 13, and narrowly lost (24-26, 25-21, 8-15). BA took the Patriots to three games, but could not take home the win. Harbani Kaur’s defense was great, keeping the ball playable with 13 digs from the back. Highlights include sophomore Ella Lombardi’s five kills and a big block by Sarah Cobb at the net. Freshman setter Kai Peterson moved the ball around well with nine assists. | |
BA traveled to Living Word Lutheran on Wednesday, September 14. Although the team lost, the players worked hard mentally and physically. The first set of the match was their standout game. Tough serving by Kai Peterson provided six aces for the Blue Knights. Control at the net really stepped up during the match. Great communication by the team led to five digs by Shivani Shah (pictured right), six assists by Kai, and four kills by Aureilia Rushing. The JV1 ladies have a big tournament this Saturday at Wauwatosa West.

Level 7/8
The Level 7/8 JR Knights faced Kettle Moraine Lutheran (KML) on September 17. The JR Knights were unable to slow down KML’s strong running game in the first half. The Knights cut into the KML lead in the second half when quarterback Drake Bolan pitched the ball in a sweep that resulted in a 65-yard touchdown run. Noah Thompson scored the extra point on a reverse. Samarth Singh had a key play on offense with a 25-yard run. Nicholas Roth was tenacious on the line with eight impactful tackles. The boys found themselves on the short end of the contest, but learned a lot they can build on. The Level 7/8 JR Knights will host its first home game this Saturday at noon at the Fields of Freedom.

Level 5/6
The Level 5/6 JR Knights faced Kettle Moraine Lutheran on September 17. The Knights’ defensive play kept KML pinned down until the last seconds of the game. Unfortunately, the team finished with a tough loss 14-13. BA's defense was strong during the game with a fumble to keep the Chargers off the scoreboard. Charlie York brought pressure to KML’s quarterback, resulting in a sack. The boys did a great job on defense, giving the team more opportunities to attack. Key plays on offense contributed to high yardage. Zaiden Johnson took it to the house, twice! Zaiden also had the extra point. The boys did a great job putting the skills they've learned during the week from practice into the game.
