2020-21 School Theme: Celebrate Learning Together
|
|
In addition to Spring Break, students and faculty look forward to spring because it is a time when they see the concrete rewards of the hard work they've put in throughout the year. This is particularly apparent for our seniors who are seeing their efforts in academics, sports, extracurriculars, and service pay dividends in the form of college acceptances, scholarships, and awards. This year, Brookfield Academy had 11 students named National Merit Finalists, and all in the running to receive National Merit Scholarships. As Mr. Homan pointed out, it's particularly interesting that all of these students started at BA in Middle School, or earlier.
"I think this is the first time in a while that all of the National Merit Finalists are kids I have taught.
That means we can truly see the impact of a BA education in these students, molded in the lower levels, polished in the Middle School, and really lit with that lamp of learning in the Upper School . . .
I realize that we are giving the gift of Western Civilization and the freedom to become the best individuals they can be. The Five Stars may be misinterpreted and attacked in this world
but they are the most beautiful guiding lights."
~ Mr. Jim Homan, Level 7 History Teacher
