2021-22 School Theme: Celebrate Learning Together

As young girls, both of us were involved with Girl Scouts. During meetings, we sang a traditional song that said, “Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.” The message regarding establishing strong friendships with our peers, new and old, continued to ring true throughout our educational years.
As students mature through our academic programming, entering their Middle School and Upper School years, participation in clubs proves to be an extraordinary way to build on the friendships established in the younger grades and a superior avenue to meet new people. In Freedom Hall, we offer a variety of clubs that engage students of all interests and give the students a chance to connect with others based on similar interests. We host academic clubs, such as our certamen team and MATHCOUNTS, as well as clubs that enrich our arts department, such as Festival Strings and Junior Thespian Society. We have clubs that enhance students' leadership skills, explore special interests and bring out our students’ creative talents. A full list of Middle School clubs can be found HERE.
In the Upper School, options continue to include both academic and social clubs. Students can participate in competitions through the math club, explore other cultures through one of our foreign language clubs, or can hone their writing skills in the poetry club. Unique to the Upper School, students diversify their experience with opportunities to take on leadership roles and to interact with students from a variety of grade levels. Additionally, students are encouraged to bring forth their distinctive ideas for new clubs; the club offering list is constantly in flux. A current list of Upper School club offerings can be found HERE.
As we begin our school year, encourage your child to get involved in one of the many clubs showcased in our club fairs. Clubs, along with our strong athletics, complete the profile for a stellar, well-rounded, school community for our children. It is a joy to watch our students blossom and share their endless talents in their pursuit of building friendships new and old.

Jessée Tomchek, Upper School Dean of Students

COVID-19 UPDATES
-
Parents, please help us by monitoring students for COVID-19 symptoms and keeping students home if they show any signs of illness.
-
Reminder: Please contact your Division's Administrative Assistant if anyone in your family has had direct contact with someone testing positive for COVID-19. A direct contact is defined as being within six feet of someone without a mask for 15 minutes or more. When making determinations about these situations, we will consider this definition; however, under certain circumstances, we may find it in the best interest of our students to expand upon this definition of direct contact. It is our intention to always do what is most necessary to keep our students, staff, and faculty safe.

Ongoing Updates: In addition to weekly newsletter updates, wellness protocols and other information are available in the MyBA parent portal under the COVID-19 School Updates.
