Happy Summer, Brooks Families!
It's almost July and we are already working hard to plan for the new year. As you begin to talk about returning to campus with your children, be sure to find out what types of extra-curricular activities interest them. We have a wide variety of sports and clubs available and this year we will be implementing even more opportunities. Both high schools have both boys' and girls' sports teams and we are rolling out intramural programs at several schools too. Whether it's football, volleyball, cross-country, cheerleading, basketball, or other sports, participating is a great way to stay active and make friends. We also have music, art, yearbook and drama opportunities. Some students choose to participate in leadership roles with Student Council and as class officers. Last year the elementary Cardio Club was very popular at BCA and we hope to get that going at all our elementary schools in the year to come. There are many other club options as well, from woodworking to robotics to Spanish to . . . you name it! And if your child wants to participate in a club that we don't offer yet, all they need to do is speak to an administrator and find a sponsor. We want to be sure we have plenty of offerings for our Bears, Bengals, Rangers and Owls!
Also, since Summer is passing by so quickly - be sure to work on our summer reading lists! There are separate lists and requirements for each age group, but all students will have a grade based on their summer reading. If you need suggestions about which book(s) might interest your child, please reach out and we will help you find the just-right novel to spark their interest.
One final note - we will hold STAAR testing (round 3) for fifth and eighth graders in math and reading this week. We expect grades to come in on July 17, and Grade Placement Meetings will be held on July 19 and 20.
Enjoy the beautiful summer sunshine. We'll see you soon!
