Re-Enrollment Process — Happening NOW Through OnBrooks
The re-enrollment process for returning students is going on NOW in coordination with the Business Office and Blackbaud Enrollment Management. The process has changed from previous years and the enrollment agreements are now available within OnBrooks with a parent or guardian account.
Signed agreements and deposits are due on or before March 1. You should have received an email from brooksschool@myschoolapp.com to notify you of the availability of your enrollment agreement, but if you do not receive an email, or the email ends up in spam, you still can access the agreement directly through a link in OnBrooks.
Please note that each parent/guardian/responsible party must log in to OnBrooks separately to sign the agreement for the process to be considered completed by the school. If you need help signing into OnBrooks, please contact Registrar and OnBrooks Site Manager Lisa Saunders.
Please refer to the instruction guide for completing the agreement. You will find the guide in OnBrooks > Groups > Parents Page > Topics > Enrollment Agreements.
Your family’s 2023-2024 Blackbaud Tuition Management balance must be current (i.e., no balance in arrears/past due as of Jan. 31, 2024) for the enrollment agreement to be released for 2024-2025. See Inside Model UN's Conference in Boston
On Friday, 16 members of Brooks’ Model UN headed to Boston for the weekend to participate in the 23rd annual Boston University Model UN Conference, held at the Marriott Copley Place. Giada Musto '26 and Christina Liu ’24 share a look inside the international affairs simulation — for 1,500 high school students from around the world! — in the news story up now on our website: “Unexpected Lessons from Model UN.”

Goal Setting with Brooks' Learning Center
At the start of the second semester, the Learning Center encourages students to reflect on their past experiences to get a better understanding of their daily academic life and routines. Using the SMART goal-setting framework (Doran, Miller & Cunningham, 1981), students are guided to set goals that are:
- Specific (be clear about what you want to accomplish)
- Measurable (identify how you will gauge your progress toward meeting the goal)
- Achievable (set a goal that is manageable to achieve)
- Relevant (make sure this goal fits in with the rest of your daily life)
- Timely (set a time frame within which to achieve the goal)
When students use this approach in setting manageable and realistic goals, they increase their ability to make progress on their planned outcome, setting them up for a successful second semester!

All Community Read Speaker
As part of our All Community Read programming, we are excited to bring to campus Omar El Akkad (shown above), author of this year’s All Community Read novel, American War. He will be speaking to the school community on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. about his book. Omar El Akkad was born in Egypt, but moved to Canada as a teenager and now lives in Oregon. He began his career as a journalist reporting on the war on terror in Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay and other locations. American War was his debut novel. We look forward to hearing about his career and what led him to write this work of dystopian fiction.

College Counseling and Standardized Testing
There are several upcoming opportunities for fifth-form students to take SAT and ACT tests. As a general rule, the College Counseling Office encourages all fifth-form students to take the SAT at least once and the ACT at least once. Specific conversations are happening now between each fifth former and their college counselor. Students who qualify for accommodations at Brooks should be in contact with Director of the Learning Center and Test Coordinator Karina Moltz about accommodations for standardized testing.
Please note: Students and their families are responsible for registering themselves for tests.

The SAT is offered on March 9. Brooks is not a test center. The regular registration deadline for the March 9 SAT is Feb. 23. After that date, there is a late registration fee. Go to The College Board site to register for a test center near home.

The ACT will be offered at Brooks on April 13. The regular registration deadline for the April ACT is March 8. After that date, there is a late registration fee. Go to ACT and enter the TEST CENTER CODE - 224020. Don't forget: April 13 is Grandparents and Special Friends Day, too!

The SAT will be offered at Brooks on May 4 and on June 1. The regular registration deadline for May is April 19 and for June is May 16. After those dates, there is a late registration fee. Go to The College Board site and enter the TEST CENTER CODE - 22584.

Reserve Your Ticket for the Winter Play!
Brooks School Firetrail Theatre presents . . . She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition on Feb. 22, 23, and 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts. Written by Qui Nguyen, this play delves into the fusion of reality and fantasy, following Agnes Evans on a Dungeons and Dragons quest that turns out to be much more than just a game. The storyline is both timely and relevant in its thought-provoking exploration of identity and courage. Reserve your free ticket!

Campus Safety Updates
We are pleased to announce that Jack McCune (shown below) has joined Brooks as our new director of campus security. He comes to us after a successful career in the military, law enforcement and university police and public safety positions. He also currently serves as an adjunct professor at Salem State University. McCune lives off campus with his wife, Stephanie and their Great Pyrenees dog, Chief.
In addition, as of Feb. 12, the main entrance gate will be open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. After 7 p.m. when the main entrance gates are closed, we encourage all traffic to enter campus via the athletics gate. The athletics gate is staffed 24/7.
The athletics gate will be open and staffed 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The athletics gate arm will close at 7 p.m but this gate is staffed 24/7. Please expect to slow down and engage with security staff to gain entrance to campus.

Fun is on the lineup for this weekend: the BSU is hosting a dance, there will be a Loop trip, movie screening, outings to Barnes & Noble and the Burlington Mall, as well as a Super Bowl watch party extravaganza!

Last night, Brooks girls 1st ice hockey celebrated National Girls & Women in Sports Day with a special day of welcoming young players and fans to watch their matchup vs. Holderness School, then skating around with the youth players before having a pizza party together. See photos from the fun!

Join us in Boston for an Alumna Author Event
Bestselling author Jessica Begen Galica ’06 invites all female-identifying alumni, current parents and Brooks employees to join her in conversation about the modern realities of women and work on Feb. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Galica will share her insights on the biggest challenges that women in corporate roles face today, based on the research behind her book, Leap: Why It’s Time to Let Go to Get Ahead in Your Career, and her personal experience navigating corporate success while stepping into motherhood, followed by a Q&A and open discussion with those in attendance.
