Class of 2024 Final Week Requirements
We have an exciting week ahead! 

  • May 21: Last day of classes for the class of 2024

  • May 22: Community service morning; bowling from 8 to 10 p.m. 

  • May 23: Rafting trip, departing at 7:30 a.m. 

  • May 24: Prize day rehearsal (for all sixth formers); 10 a.m. spring afternoon activity awards; 11 a.m. Donning of the Stoles rehearsal (for those participating). Sixth-formers may depart pending final form.

  • May 26: Donning of the Stoles 10:30 a.m; Lawn Ceremony at 2 p.m.

Class of 2024 Rafting Trip: Submit Waiver ASAP!
All parents or guardians of sixth formers, regardless of their age, must complete the waiver for next Thursday's CrabApple Whitewater Rafting trip. Parents and guardians can access the waiver through the Magnus Healthcare portal located in OnBrooks > Resources > Magnus.
Campus affinity group Alianza Latina got together on Friday to enjoy a dinner from Lawrence, Mass., restaurant Pollo Tipico in the Student Center.
2024-2025 Housing Process
All returning boarding students will soon engage in the housing selection process. This phase of the process (submitting their housing preference forms) is supervised by your student's advisor. Housing decisions will be communicated to students in August. Any questions regarding the process should be directed to the advisor.
All-Students' Graduation Weekend Departure Guidelines
Students are permitted to depart campus after their last commitment on May 24 for the weekend. All students (boarding and day) are expected to return to campus on May 26 by 1 p.m. ahead of Lawn Ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m. 

Students requesting to depart on May 24 will be expected to submit their REACH request ahead of time. Those REACH requests will be due by May 23 at 3:30 p.m.

Sixth-formers wishing to depart after their last commitment on May 24 will also need to submit a Final Departure Form. This form ensures all athletics and arts equipment has been returned, that the student has no outstanding work, that their dorm room (if applicable) is in satisfactory condition and that their day-student locker (if applicable) has been emptied. 
Dorm Move-Out, End-of-Year Expectations and Schedule

The time is now to begin signing up for packing services! Students are not permitted to store items on campus during the summer months, so be sure to reserve your spot for full-service summer storage from Dorm Room Movers.

Weekend Activities

Business Office
Student Debit Account Balances: Withdraw or Use Soon!

  • Sixth-form parents: Students' debit account funds should be utilized (purchases in the store or snack bar) or withdrawn (at the mailroom window) on or prior to May 25. The mailroom will not be open on Commencement Weekend, May 26 or 27, and students will be unable to withdraw funds on those dates.

  • Third-, fourth-, and fifth-form parents: Debit account funds are only available for use or withdrawal during the academic year and must be used or withdrawn on or prior to May 31 if you wish to zero out the account. Debit account funds that are not utilized or withdrawn by May 31 will be carried over to the following school year for use. If your student is not returning, funds must be used or withdrawn on or prior to May 31. Funds cannot be transferred to another school/account.
Academics
Dr. Mike Muto '74 visited the Human Health and Disease class on Tuesday to show students how to suture and remove a "cancerous mole" for biopsy.
Standardized Testing Information
Today, May 16, is the deadline to register for the June 1 SAT. Brooks will be a test center, and/but your student may take the test at a site closer to home. May 21 is the deadline for late registration. 

Late Registration deadline for the June 8 ACT is on May 19. Brooks is not a test center on this date.

Congratulations to Adam Jin '24 and Jasmine Shi '24 on their impressive Advanced History Capstone presentations in Chapel on Tuesday evening. Chair of History Department Michele Musto called it a "fantastic end to a long year of research, writing and thought." 
Athletics
Boys 1st lacrosse bested Rivers School at home in overtime on Saturday before falling to Tabor Academy on Tuesday in the ISL quarterfinals.
Arts

Arts Weekend May 16-19
Please join us in, and around, the Center for the Arts for many wonderful events featuring all artistic expression: the Firetrail Theatre spring musical, visual arts exhibitions and music performances.

  • May 17: Advanced Visual Artists Reception — 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Join us as we celebrate 40 advanced artists' sustained investigations on display in the Center for the Arts and select works in the Bowers Room, including refreshments before and after the Friday performance of SIX.
  • May 16-18: Firetrail Theatre presents "SIX: Teen Edition"

Join Firetrail Theatre for an electrifying performance of "SIX: Teen Edition," featuring a powerhouse group of performers. This modern twist on history blends powerful storytelling with a pop concert vibe, as Henry VIII's wives reclaim their narratives. Don't miss this energetic showcase of female power and historical drama, performed by the stars of tomorrow!

Please note the earlier showtime (6 p.m.) on May 18 to allow us to collaborate with Brookstock. We hope everyone can attend both events that evening. Reserve your free ticket now!
  • May 18: Brookstock — 8 to 10 p.m.

Brookstock is the grand culmination of a semester's worth of work for all our music ensemble classes held outdoors in the Class of 2020 Quad. During the first hour, you will hear performances from Advanced Chorus, Arts Exploratory Chorus, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Advanced Jazz Band and the Brooks Pops. The second hour will feature Brooks’s rock bands: Lithium (our Advanced Rock Band), JV Rock and a debut performance from 3rds Rock (our adult rock band). The event includes food, carnival games and much more. Everyone is welcome!
  • May 19: Private Lessons Recital — 2 p.m.

Our annual private lessons recital will take place this year in the Robert Lehman Art Center. Several Brooks students currently enrolled in weekly private music lessons will participate and perform on instruments ranging from voice and piano to guitar and drums. This is their opportunity to show the community what they have been working on all year with their private teachers. Everyone is welcome to attend the recital, including off-campus family and friends. There will be a catered reception in the Lehman directly following the event.
