May 23: Last day of classes for the Class of 2023; special, required programming May 24-25 for sixth form
May 23: All Community Read speakers, required for the classes of 2024, 2025 and 2026, at 7 p.m.
May 26 - 28: UPDATED Boarding students may take an overnight on Friday and/or Saturday, May 26-27, using REACH. All boarding students must return to campus by Sunday, May 27, at 1 p.m. No overnights will be allowed on Sunday night, May, 28.

Appreciation Challenge
We are excited to announce our annual Appreciation Challenge! With just a few weeks to go in the school year, we encourage our families to please support our school with a gift to the Brooks Fund. While we are grateful to have topped $2 million, we are still striving to reach our $2.5 million goal. Thank you to the more than 62 percent of families who have already shown your commitment to Brooks with a contribution to this vital fund.
We are also thrilled that a generous donor has challenged all first-time donors to make a Brooks Fund gift by June 2. On Tuesday, the class of 2023 celebrated their Sixth-Form Induction Dinner with members of the Alumni Board, who welcomed them into the alumni community. Guest speaker Renu Mukherjee '15 talked with the class about appreciating all of the fun at Brooks and how she came to recognize that "those moments on campus that felt small at the time . . . have gone on to become the big moments in the grand scheme of life."

Debit Account Balances
A note from Brooks School's Business Office:

Sixth-form parents: Students' debit account funds should be utilized (purchases in the store or snack bar) or withdrawn (at the mailroom window) on or prior to May 27. The mailroom will not be open on Commencement Weekend, May 28 or 29, and students will be unable to withdraw funds on those dates.

Third-, fourth-, and fifth-form parents: Debit account funds are only available for use or withdrawal during the academic year and must be used or withdrawn on or prior to June 2 if you wish to zero out the account. Debit account funds that are not utilized or withdrawn by June 2 will be carried over to the following school year for use. If you are not returning, funds must be used or withdrawn on or prior to June 2, they cannot be transferred to another school/account.

Exhibitions of Learning (EOL)
EOL week is right around the corner! These culminating experiences will run from May 30 through June 2. Morning EOLs will begin on or after 8:30 a.m. and end by 11:30 a.m. Afternoon EOLs begin on or after 1 p.m. and end by 4 p.m. Details and course-specific schedule information is available in this document. Please note: A few details about locations and timing have yet to be determined, but this should nonetheless provide a helpful snapshot! Students have access to up-to-date schedule information through OnBrooks.

All-Community-Read Event
On May 23 at 7 p.m. in the theater, we have two scientists coming to speak to the community as part of our All-Community-Read speaker series inspired by The Midnight Library. Mike Retelle from Bates College and Matt Moore from Tabor Academy will present to the community on climate change and their recent work in Svalbard on an artic study funded by the National Science Foundation. This is a required event for third-, fourth-, and fifth-form students. Members of the general public are welcome, too!

Spring Play Opens Tonight!
You're invited to Brooks School's spring play, "Peter and the Starcatcher." The Tony-winning production upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (A.K.A. Peter Pan).
When: Thursday, May 18 - Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Brooks' Center for the Arts mainstage!

Join Us: Private Lessons Recital
On Sunday, May 21 from 2 to 3 p.m., twelve Brooks students are performing in a spring recital, spanning main instruments and ranging from voice and piano to trumpet and drum set. This is their opportunity to show the community what they have been working on all year with private teachers in their weekly lessons. Everyone is welcome to attend this recital in the Robert Lehman Art Center, including off-campus family and friends. There will be a catered reception in the gallery directly following the event.

New Golf Team Record
At the Newport Country Club on Monday, the 1st golf team earned the school's best-ever, third-place finish in the Kingman Tournament. The 75s recorded by Payne Plum '23, Mason Malouf '25 and Jack McDermott '23 earned them all-league status, which goes to the top nine finishers. Brooks was the only school to put more than one player in the top nine!
